Ok, honestly, people need to stop relating this incredible band to God. I don't know about anyone else, but it's just irritating when I'm trying to look for the meaning of a song or lyrics I get bombarded with God and Jesus.

I know I'm a little...very late for the discussion, but i guess it's never late to join in.
Anyway, is Mae a religious band or something? Because this is the second Mae song that I've seen tied to God and all that crap. Personally, I don't understand why people find is neccesary to attribute a religious meaning to every song where it doesn't belong. It just seems out of place. That's all I'm saying. |

When I saw them live (11/17/04), right before he played this song. He said, "This here is a song about America," someone in the crowd yelled, "AMERICA RULES!!!" and Travis said, "Well...that's under discussion..." and Aaron said, "The land sure is nice, but I dont know about the other stuff."

Yeah..I'd going to have to agree with ThriceTimesThree. When I heard this song I didn't think, "Oh, it's a conflict with Jesus" or anything like that. Personally, I think it deals with a relationships and all. Fufu also has a good point but no offense to Forever Dead, but that notion was COMPLETELY from left field. Also, maybe I don't see the Christian aspect cause Im Jewish and I never really paid a lot attention to religion and all. But this is neither the time nor the place to start a religious debate or condemn me to hell for not believing in Christ. |

I think this song is about how they don't like the people they're around, so he's leaving all of them. Like he's been offering them so much, and people have been ignoring him, but he's leaving and they can't do anything about it. |
