| This song is a variety of artists' way of reaching people. Such an eclectic group has some appeal. Being that it is a remake (somewhat) of an older song shows that the problems that people face today are in many ways the same as years ago. Each generation is faced with trying to deal with these things as best they can. The best thing I can say as to the meaning of this song is to watch the movie Pay it Forward. | |

This song is from a teen's viewpoint. Trying to make sense of the situations that they have to face. Life is never easy, especially for teens. Fighting for independence, the right to be heard, respected and understood. Too many times, adults find it hard to realize that teenagers are neither children nor adults. They are stuck somewhere in the middle, needing guidance, not control. All too often, many adults want them to adhere to strict standards, that are too confining. As the parent of two teens (with 2 more not yet teens), I have tried to raise my children with confidence, respect for themselves and others, and a genuine caring to life in general. It is the responsibility of adults to not make the decisions for them, but to teach them to make the decisions for themselves that they deem to be correct; to make them take responsibility for the choices in life; and to try to learn from the mistakes they and others make. For those who are troubled, the signs are there. Those who are willing to see, can. Many times, all it takes is letting the person know that someone cares. Just someone to talk to. Respect is inherent. If you show respect, you will receive it, however grudgingly. I tell me children.......the choices you make in life are your own, no one can force you to do anything. Even if someone puts a gun to your head.....the choice is still yours. If you don't like the way something is, do something about it, just do it in a positive way. Negativity breeds negativity. Life is never easy, but that is what makes it life. |
