Blue October – 18th Floor Balcony Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think...something has happened to the girl. Not that they've broken up...but instead it sounds like she's dying. "Don't try to take her from me...I've already spent my life living half undone" :( |
Keith Urban – Stupid Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
to do that*. |
Keith Urban – Stupid Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a great song. One of the first of the newer country songs to really show some heart beyond the I loved you, I lost you, I want you back type scenario. It shows a lot of courage from a country singer to that. Especially when it's riding up against "Honky Tonk Badonky Donk" or whatever the hell that stupid song is. Thank God there are still some singers out there with class. Keith is definitely one of them. |
Loretta Lynn – Portland, Oregon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
When I first heard this song I was like, "Huh? Jack White?" But after hearing it I gained a new found respect for him. Loretta is amazing. Apparently she wrote the song about getting back at her womanizing man with her guitar player to make him jealous. Apparently it worked. He showed up with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a pistol in the other. Well, I'm pretty certain that I got that story right. If I'm wrong, feel free to let me know. |
Bright Eyes – No Lies, Just Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Like 2 years ago I commented on this song and how at one time it fit like the missing piece to the puzzle of my life. And some jackass made a comment about how you don't need to be 17 to relate to this song. I just notice their 2 cents just now. Thanks, pal. Anyhow... this song still applies. I used to feel like that and then my baby brother and sister were born and it gave me a new reason to quit thinking like such a depressed emo kid and to start living and just to be happy, oh so happy. No lies, just love. They made me pure. |
The Chicks – Favorite Year Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a great song. I mean most oountry songs referring to past love usually are depressing as hell, but this one gives anyone who has ever even had an inkling of love in their heart hope. It's just all summed up so simply. The Dixie Chicks are wonderful. |
Ozma – In Search Of 1988 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
nostalgic... |
Ani DiFranco – Reprieve Lyrics | 18 years ago |
She read this at the 2006 Young Feminist Summit in Albany, NY this past July. She along with most of the women there were crying. It was amazing. She is amazing. She is truly a hero to women everywhere. Look at the last line to figure out what the song means. |
The Rentals – Hello Hello Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's a pretty sweet song. I think it may just be my favorite Rentals song yet. I think it's just about finding that group of people that makes you feel great about yourself and leaving all feelings of disappointment behind. Pretty much he's saying, "I've fucked up and I'm a big loser, but you guys make me feel like a big winner." Touching, really. |
Billy Joel – Keeping The Faith Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song makes me want to have an ice cold beer in the shade... Yum. |

Billy Joel – Half A Mile Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is wonderful. He needs a break for pleasing everyone else and it's about time he pleases himself. Way to go Billy - 52nd Street is untouchable. |
Billy Joel – Half A Mile Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is wonderful. He needs a break for pleasing everyone else and it's about time he pleases himself. Way to go Billy - 52nd Street is untouchable. |
Alanis Morissette – So Unsexy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. It's.. so.. true. Like PrettyinPunk said about the lines, "Oh these little protections how they fail to serve me One forgotten phone call and I'm deflated" I always feel deflated. Any time i'm forgotten about the rejections just start to build up. I think the last verse is her beginning to realize that she is letting the man have way too much control over her emotions... "Oh these little rejections how they disappear quickly The moment I decide not to abandon me" She realizes that if abandons herself the rejections build up - but when she is one with herself she can get along just fine. I |
Billy Joel – New Mexico Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think he says, "I'll get a loan," but it could be "I'll get along." You tell me. I like this song. Very catchy... :) |
Billy Joel – These Rhinestone Days Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I suppose this was the first version of "I've Loved These Days." Of course the similarities are obvious - as well as the dissimilarities. This one just happens to be a heck of a lot shorter. I like this version, but "I've Loved These Days" is a lot more classy. I don't know. Maybe I'm crazy. Oh well. :) Rock on Billy! |
Billy Joel – Cross to Bear Lyrics | 18 years ago |
He's pretty much telling the chick that it's time to get out of the relationship now rather then letting it carry on any longer. He lets her know that this happens to everyone - and its happened to him too, but nevertheless he has got to have his freedom, even if it means giving her the blues. Wow, Billy back in the day sure didn't know how to sugar coat it, huh? Hahaha...oh well. Good song. I love the My Lives collection. Very insightful. |
Tegan and Sara – I Know I Know I Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
gooooooooooooood song. i enjoy tegan and sara. even though i only discovered them today. she's always moving and he's always coming along cos they're in love and they know it... :) "this love isn't good unless it's me and you" good deal. i gotta see em live. girls rock. |

Kenny Chesney – Who You'd be Today Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of Kenny's best songs by far. Well, best recent songs. It's pretty self-explanatory, someone he knew from his youngerdays died...and so on and so forth. Thewhitepele18 - that's a good idea. |
Bright Eyes – A Spindle, a Darkness, a Fever, and a Necklace Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this has to do with suicide. The whole thing about not destroying yourself like those cowards do gives me that idea. Since cowardness is typically associated with the act of suicide. If you want to relate the story to the message Conor is attempting to convey... I guess you could say that Mitchell is tired. Tired of living perhaps? Living in the same place he's lived in for what seems like forever with no chance for escape. The only thing that keeps him from escaping life is Margot, the only one who wants him to stay. And does he? I think so. Margot, like Conor, seems like a pretty convincing character. |
Billy Joel – Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No, but really. The song is about: In 1974, NYC was in big fiscal trouble: it coudln't pay back its loans..etc. Officials from NYC asked the federal government for relief money, and Gerald Ford denied it...the next day, the Daily News headline read "Ford to City: Drop Dead" Upon learning of this Billy Joel wrote a song in which the city did in fact "drop dead." Well, NY recovered and Ford lost the next election, because well, NY wanted him to drop dead. Alot of non-Billy fans think this song was written soley for Sept. 11th, and it wasn't. Billy has said that he considered this to be a science fiction song and never even considered the possibility of Sept. 11th happening. The live version is awesome... Instead of: "Since the Mafia took over Mexico" it's: "Since the mafia took over Jericho." But why not Hicksville? |
Billy Joel – Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song... it's the end of the world. God forbid I ever had to live in Florida. Haha... |
Billy Joel – Zanzibar Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song... makes me want to disappear. |
Nightmare Of You – Yuengling Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like Yuengling, but then again who doesnt like a fine beer every now and then? .. both this song and this guy are insane. Apparently this Megan chick used to be friends with a friend of mine... they broke up - he went nuts. Yeah, you get the point. But I enjoy this song alot... "And when the flowers grow just know that you're still in my heart" ahh |

LeAnn Rimes – Probably Wouldn't Be This Way Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Definitely about the death of her husband. The whole "stone" reference makes this obvious. I like this song a lot - and I haven't liked much of LeAnn for quite a while, but hopefully she starts singing from the heart again. |

Billy Joel – New York State Of Mind Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song represents New York - and although I'm one of the least New Yorky New Yorkers...this song is amazing. Right at this very moment I'm in a New York State of Mind. That's what happens when a damn yankee liberal decides to go to college in the heart of Texas. Anywho, I saw him perform this song live...WITH GARTH BROOKS...IN CENTRAL PARK. What an amazing concert. Just Garth was amazing, but when Billy came out ALL my dreams came true. I've been listening to him before I could even remember. And the only thing that I'm the least bit proud about - is the fact that I walked down the same halls he once walked at the HMS (formally HHS)...ahh Billy. Well, anywho... - if you wanna take a break from the same old, same old listen to this song. It's an amazing piece of music. Billy knows how to do it. |
