Like wanderingwonderland, I also thought that "stay with me Arienette until the wolves are away" meant that Conan wanted to protect Arienette from the wolves and not the other way around. But still, the line "So don’t leave me here with only mirrors watching me" would make it seem more like it is Arienette who should be his protection and stay with him.
I also get that association of werewolves, considering all the references like "the moon it leaves silver", "stick to the shadows", "They will run down forever as they soak into silence and end up together in a dark and distant, dark and distant place".
I think the song is basically about trying to escape from all the different kinds of people (the werewolves/the wolves). In the verses he categorizes people into different kinds of categories (the fragile, the sad, the pure etc.), I don't know if it's all kinds of people or if it's just girls ("potential lovers"). He doesn't really like anybody so that's why he made this perfect girl Arienette up...
About the name, Arienette, is it something that he made up himself, or is it an existing name? Because I hadn't heard it before, but it's a nice name, sound so lovely when Conan sings it, too bad it doesn't sound that good in Swedish... |

This song was originally in the musical the Fiddler on the Roof from the 60's or so. Actually, just the first two lines;
"Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly go the days", the rest was different. The melody is slightly different and Bright Eye's version is a lot faster.
The original song was sung by an older couple on their daughter's wedding day I beleive, and it's about how quickly time flies ("is this the little girl I carried / is this the little boy at play / I don't remember growing older, when did they?").
To me, the Bright Eyes version is basically about the same thing, or somehow about the meaninglessness of it all; "all days are the same and nothing ever really happens, then you die, so what's the point of it all"? I would guess that the song is based on thoughts like that.. Great song anyways... |

About the "I've got plans" and then he just "moans about how he'll never have her", I take it like that he first is all high and then he gets his senses together and realizes that he can never have her.
Many people seem have heard him say that he's written this about his ex-gf, I guess it's true then, but somehow it'd make more sense if it was a girl he'd never seen before, especially the part which goes:
"And I don't think, that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end."
Doesn't sound like he'd already had a long relationship with her :/
I think the reason to why I like this song so much because I can relate to it. It's excactly like when I met this guy on the train and we were talking but he got away before I had time to ask for his name. It's already a year ago and I still think about him, and especially when I hear this song... |

I hate to break this to you, but this is not Björks song originally, this is actually, Ella Fitzgerald or something. And I think this song actually is as simple as it seems; some guy was unfaithful to a girl, and hur het a lot. And then, when he comes and wants her back she doesn't want anything to do with him, because he hurt her so much before. |

Well.. I don't really know how to explain it.. HIM did this song really great, they did.. But the way it was from before, it was pop. HIM are known for choosing great cover songs (like "wicked game" etc.), and this one is good too... But the lyrics are somehow so... "normal"... if you look at the other HIM songs, including their cover songs... Has anyone got any idea of what I'm talking about? |

I haven't seen the US version of the song (I didn't even know The Rasmus were famous in the US :P), nor the UK version, but in the Nordic version there are basically only shots from the movie "Pahat Pojat" (="bad boys", this song was on the sountrack for that movie), and stuff, I remember correctly... |

I love this song.. I always thought it's about a guy that does something terrible to a girl, maybe rapes her, or just murders her, or anything, and that makes him an Unforgivable Sinner..I remeber I read an interwiev with her once and she said that "no one can ever find out what 'unforgivable sinner' is about", which makes me beleive it was someone really close to her, like a sister or mayeb a best friend, who died.. But all this is only guesses.. |
