Guster – Come Downstairs And Say Hello Lyrics 21 years ago
By the way, whats the deal with Guster and the Wizard of Oz anways? I think this song is just about moving on, growing up, what not.

"Once had this dream
Crashed down in Oz
Not black and white
But where the colors are"

In a recent Rolling Stone they were able to link up Darkside of the Moon with the Titanic, the Matrix, and apollo 13. So I think it's just coincidence.

Basically I think it's a referrence to being a stoned out waste of life. I think the narrator is ready to grow up and get out of the situation he's in.

Dashboard Confessional – Tonight I'll Take What I Can Get Lyrics 21 years ago
Yah when I first heard it, I instantly imagined a young bob dylan. Does anyone else find it odd that the more Dashboard becomes a "band," the more he sounds like a traditional singer song writer? And I agree, his new stuff is pretty poor. This one, as fun as it is supposed to be, doesn't do much for his older OR newer fans. And the song about the locket? What's that about? That one scared me more when I saw him preform in live than this one.

Dashboard and slide guitar?

Dashboard Confessional – The Good Fight Lyrics 22 years ago
I recently read an article on Dashboard Confessional in Alternative Press that answered the whole "Is this punk or not" question.

What it said basically was that Dashboard defines the meaning of "punk." What is more punk than getting onstage before hardcore groups (when he first started), and playing an acoustic guitar and singing about loss and love? That takes balls, and isn't that what punk is about? Going out there against all odds, and saying screw you, this is me, love it or hate it?

You guys get up here and you talk about sell outs and how this isn't punk, or emo, or whatever, and how it sucks. You're hearing things, but you're not listening. You think you're doing the Punk world a favor by dissing these bands, but you really don't know what they're about, where they've been, or who their listeners are. Have you been to a show? I dont care if you don't like them, but just quit acting like idiots. You make punks look bad.

Oh and I love this song =)

Dashboard Confessional – This Bitter Pill Lyrics 22 years ago
Oh yah....and there's a reason why he chose Bitter Pill for this song. Bitter has so many meanings to it...it can mean extreme pain, harshness, or it can refer to antimosity against another (both of which represent my 2 angry people opinion above). So, you use a bitter pill, something small but powerful, to rerpresent the situation.

Maybe he wasn't thinking about it at the time, he was probably just writing what sounded good, but the use of diction in this song is freaking genius.

Dashboard Confessional – This Bitter Pill Lyrics 22 years ago
To me, this song is about an argument or something bad that happened between two people or groups, one of which can't get over it, they've "run it in the ground." They use the incident as their means of why they're so upset with everything and refuse to let it go. The bitter pill represents the incident and the anger, frustration, and pain that coincides with it. Probably the most important line in the song is that one person's mouth, or words, are "void of all discretion," it cant seperate or distinguish between things, meaning everytime they hear about that person or see them, they think about the incident. Instead of teh 2nd party. the speaker, being a person, they are a traumatic experience. The speaker is also upset, as he continues to "glare" at the person, but he doesn't seem to be dwelling on the incident like the other person who seems to want a pity party (the cap line). Instead of the Incident affecting him, it's the person. Perhaps that's the reason why he's so upset -- they can't move on. In the end they are both incredibly hurt, and since the line, "this feeling of despair is never wearing off," isn't clearly directed to either party, it's safe to say both are suffering.

For all we know, Chris might be the one dwelling. In the end it's basically a song about feeling incredibly hurt, betrayed, angry....just Bitter. It's a song about feeling like sh*t and it won't go away. It's an amazing song with so many meanings...

Dashboard Confessional – Hands Down Lyrics 22 years ago
The difference between this Ep and the other realease is the down to earth songs that everyone can relate to. Swiss Army's lyrics can be very complex and highly emotional, which makes it so good. So Impossible's lyrics are not as strong but the emotion is still there.

Emo Kid*...as for the line, "So we can get some, " it's supposed to be funny, not lyrically masterful.

This isn't a love song. Even in his live shows he says this song is about the best DAY of his life, nothing more nothing less. The meanings of these 4 songs speak for themselves. This isn't Turpentine Chaser kids...this is "Hands down this is the best date I can ever remember."

I've been listening to Dashboard long before this EP came out. Hands Down is a great song, but not the best on So Impossible (remember to breathe is just too beautiful musically to be second best).

I know I 'm gonna get crap from all of the anti-MTV, mainstream haters (I used to one of them until I grew up and realized that I'm gonna like whoever I like dispite who else listens to him), But i think the best version of this song was on MTV unplugged. I love the fast beat in the background, and I do think that the band adds more to the music. Chris is awesome by himself, but just because DC is a band now, kinda, doesn't mean it's a disaster.

anywho, does anyone know if that version of the song from Unplugged will be released as an MP3 or anything?

Taking Back Sunday – Ghost Man on Third Lyrics 22 years ago
Is it "It's now or get out" or "It's not working out"?

Also, what else are they saying around, "We were taught so much better than this"?

Our Lady Peace – Clumsy Lyrics 22 years ago
Personally, I believe this song is about someone going through self-injury (cutting possibly) and the friend that's trying to get them through it. I think the SI'er doesn't want anyone to know what's going on, which makes sense, since the world does not accept cutting or other forms of self-harm as reasonable or sane coping mechanisms. "Throw away the very old shoelace that tripped you again. Shrug it off, it's only skin." Many self injurers lie how they hurt themselves when people notice their wounds, such as running into doors, falling, etc. ("As Clumsy as you've been, there's no one laughing.") However the friend isn't falling for it, and knows "there's nothing fake about this," and he wants to be "let in," or know how that person is feeling. But the fact still remains that the friend is on the outside, waving his hands happily, not because the friend doesn't care, but because the SI'er won't let him know what's wrong(pretending his life is just fine), even though the friend already knows. He's calling his bluff basically. I also get this idea because Automatic Flowers is on the same cd, and many believe it too is also about self-injury.
