Tool's No Quarter is in no way better than Led Zeppelin's :)) stop kissing Tool's ass, the instrumental work might be better but Zep's original lyrics kick the shit out of the ones maynard sang, they completely left out the verse about walking side by side with death, which if you listen to Tool's version would have fit perfectly in with the really quiet part, before he sings "Close the Door" |

This track begins one of the deepest parts of any other album by any other band. The whole thing Junkhead through Would? Is about the cycle of drugs. I'll Explain...
Junkhead- This is the user buying the drugs saying to himself its gonna be a great night. He finds himself a dealer, buys the drug then takes it home to do it.
Dirt- Is him talking to the drug directly. Saying i want you to kill all the pain, and make me happy. And the reference to the stinging pistol in his mouth is him saying, that when i take these drugs there is a risk i could die but its a risk im wiling to take for a good time. And it ends with him taking the drug.
God Smack- This is after he has taken the drug and his conscience is talking to him saying what have you done?
The Instrumental(Iron Glad)- This is sometimes refered to as the "Dream sequence" This is when the drug had taken effect, and he his halucenating and things like that
Hate To Feel- This is him regretting having taken the drug, saying he promised himself he would not be an junkie like his father was, and saying its time for me to check into rehab.
Angry Chair- This refers to rehab itself. I have never been to rehab myself, but i do believe they give you tons of therapy (refering to the chair) and some medications. And he is talking about how horrible it was in there.
Would? - This is him talking to another person about the mistake he has made, Saying that this drug nearly destroyed me, yet i still took it making the same mistakes, but cant you see it from my point of view. It ends with him telling the person how easy it is to be overtaken by the drug with him saying "If I Would, Could You?"
And thats about it, i dont recall if those are exactly accurate but i'd say they are fairly close. Great stuff from one of the Greatest bands ever. its a shame he lost his life for drugs..:( |

wait a second.... Im a little confused as to why someone with athiestic in their name is talking about the bible and knows so much about jesus. hmmm.. Oh btw, God is like Santa Claus.... If are good you get gifts....if you are bad you get a lump of coal (in reference to fire no less.) And that is why i dont believe in god because so many other things are based on that same thing. If you are good, you get good things, if you are bad, you get nothing. It started off as a good idea but over the years MAN corrupted it, and had different opinions of what was right and what was wrong. (I wrote about this in an essay, once). Anyway, all im saying is someone made up god. to teach the masses right from wrong and get them under control, HOWEVER, the problem occured when other people put their own input into it. And it DESTROYED the idea, which is why there are so many different religions today. Sad isn't it? |

in respose to you kira...Tool inspires their fans to think, i've heard Adam Jones talk about this in an interview.

Thats what Adam has to say about the matter. One of Tool's main objective (in my opinion) is to make people think, and be open minded and willing to suggestion, and they do that. When they first came out, they were very literal, and it seems, after Justin Chancellor took over on bass duties, Tool as a band got alot deeper in their music. Songs like "H." and Forty-Six & 2 from the album Ænima are incredible and mindblowing (you should read under their titles for meanings on them), Especially the closing track "Third Eye." That song is the very song that inspired the rest of my life, I've changed so much since i first heard it. And now this song,Parabol(a), is to me the Third Eye of Lateralus. It really opened me up (brought me to tears a couple of times and i'm not ashamed to say it). It's just I guess their music touches a lot of people very deeply and spiritually. And its not for all people, in my opinion is over most peoples head, like the people who say Lateralus is their worst album, well to me it is their best work musically and lyrically, and i feel that it was over most of the fans heads. And the mathematical formulas come from the the fact that we want to learn what these songs are about. It's kinda hard to explain I've been rambling on for quite sometime and I probably haven't answered your question. I hope I helped give you a little insight as to why us Tool fans think so highly of their work and how we find such deep emotion in their lyrics.
