I think it's about finding the meaning of life. I can't believe how beautifully phrased these lyrics are; Richard D. James is obviously a poetic genius. The words are so plain yet so complex, deep, and twisted. You have to look deep to understand their true meaning, however. I wish more musicians could write like this. |

For those who don't know, Steve Burns is the former host of the kids' show Blue's Clues, and he's now working on an album, Songs For Dustmites. I like this song. I really like it when the writers can so accurately refer to a feeling...like where he says "the amazing electrifying feeling that surges through your body when you kiss someone for the first time". For some reason, the style of this song reminds me of "I Know You" by Henry Rollins. Rollins kinda does the same thing, like when he says "all the nights you wrapped your arms around yourself so you could imagine someone holding you". The songs are about two entirely different things, but the way they perfectly applied to me was pretty amazing. I also like the part about getting stoned and using hallucinogenics, because they are pretty enjoyable. In fact, I actually was stoned the first time I heard this song. |
