mmm, first post. Well, i actually found this band by chance here on songmeanings.net . and i am oh so glad that i did. This song instantly got me hooked, and most of their other stuff is quite beautiful too.
In meaning, i basically take this song as remembering back on a past love that left out of the blue. and the singer of the song still misses that person deeply. that's just my observation of the song. |

I think i shall respond to the above posts without cussing to an extremity. It seems to me that it is best to take some people's opinions, no matter how stupid or immature they seem, and calmly state how you feel about them. yelling and such gets us nowhere. useless power struggle. Johnny is entitled to his opinion, even if i personally don't agree with it. I would like to suggest, though, that we keep this sight for interpretation of songs, and not bickering. And thus comment on what the song means to you, in a mature manner, or what effect the song has had upon you.
Personally, i enjoy thrice's music. I'm not one of their biggest fans by any account, but they do seem to have a lot of creativity and talent, and are definately a respected band by me.

in my opinion, and i don't claim to know what i'm talking about at all, but it seems like the song is about using drugs to escape 'teenage hell'.

it's, from my observation, spending money on drugs, thus killing himself (seeing as that's what drugs eventually do) but slightly saving himself from pain and again 'teenage hell' in the process. Yeah, still a pretty good song though. |

This song. This song. In my opinion, the greatest creation of the most powerful band with us today. Truly, the best off of clarity (which is quite a feat, seeing as all the clarity songs easily destroy almost anything else i listen to) and my favorite song ever.
I'm not really one to guess at the meaning of this song though. I agree with many of the above, it can be taken to mean whatever the listener wants it to. The true real meaning rests in the minds of j.e.w. themselves. Take it to mean whatever you wish, and just enjoy it. Enjoy the feeling and emotion of it.

yes, this is a song that hits close to the heart for a good many. It captures the whole, well, crush emotion quite perfectly. 'take in restraint like a breath, my lungs are so numb from holding back' perfect. i could feel my entire being just bonding with those words when i first listened to this song.
A great song in the line of amazing songs off of the best album that has ever had the chance of gracing my ears. |

yes, yes, i entirely agree with corduroyrock. though i am far too inferior to even attempt to guess at the full meaning of j.e.w. songs, i do love this song. Mostly, yes, for the insanely good and inventice guitar/sound to it. It's beautiful. One of their best off of static prevails. |

Man, this song is likely the best off static prevails. It's a pure emotion and comforting song to simply listen to. I love how this band can just warm your heart by hearing a song, even if you don't catch all the lyrics. And then, once you hear all the lyrics, it just amplifies the song's power.
"we'll dance off time to the songs we've never liked. and sing of key, thinking it sounds alright" i can't get over those lyrics right there. perfect. Heheh, yeah, guess i'm just addicted/in love with music overall. And this band masters all that music was made for. |
