Texas Is The Reason – Back and to the Left Lyrics
| 19 years ago

and even though the question was asked a well over a year ago.. back and to the left is the direction kennedy's went when he got shot in the head... if you watch the movie JFK, Kevin Costner just keeps playing the 2 seconds where he gets shot in the head..and he's just like "back and to the left" "back and to the left" "back and to the left" |

Thursday – Between Rupture and Rapture Lyrics
| 20 years ago

I really think that sometimes that Geoff misleads with his song meaning explications. To me. as I try to interpret this song... is Geoff throws in all kinds of side meanings to his songs.. "We're coming to the capitol" repeats over and over and I don't really see how that relates to his friend dying. I just see it as the distance between us (the people) and those in the government and the decision makers in life. We want to make friends, they want to drop bombs and rupture walls and what not. a total stab in the dark besides what Geoff says in that interview. |

yeah, its really sad. Luisitania wasn't really warmed up to near the end of Fairweather's existence. But I think its an incredibly powerful album. If you haven't given it a chance, give it one. And if you already gave it a chance, give it another. Oh and this song is badass. |

The Stryder – 11:11 Lyrics

NIFTY: How did you meet Peter and Scottie? How'd you come to join The Stryder?
JOHN: We have all been friends for a really long time. They had a band before The Stryder called Yearly. Eben from Saves The Day used to be in the band with them. Eben left the band to join Saves The Day and peter and scottie started another band with another friend, Nick. they were trying out people to sing but didn't find anybody they liked and I happened to be over so they asked me if I wanted to sing. |

Strike Anywhere – Cassandratic Equation Lyrics

NO COMMENTS? This is their most popular fucking song. They almost always close with this song. Wow. Anyway. I wasn't too much of a fan of S.A. up until about a 15 or so months ago. This kid who lived next door to me played this song literally at least 10 times a day where I lived in my dorms. To the point where I couldn't help but memorize the song. Eventually, S.A. came to my town, Blacksburg, rocked out, and I've been a fan ever since. It's funny, I was expecting some hardass, big, tall formidable lead singer. But it's just a little guy with some crucial dreadlocks. The band nonetheless is amazing. As you probably know if you are here. |

The June Spirit – If Kenneth Could Speak Lyrics

with there being so many bands, so many started by kids just like us trying to make good music, it is easy to go into your memory banks and think, "Hey this is a great riff/rhythm." Play it... And in actuality, you heard it someplace else. Or it can just be total coincidence. Things like this happen. This is hands down... without a doubt.. the best TJS song. Don't believe it? Well you're wrong. Hah, just playing. |

Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics

say what you want, but SoCo is quite packaged, in my opinion. I'm sure that this song means a whole lot to the band members since a song like this takes quite amount of time to record. But after listening to it, I didn't feel it. I can listen to "I'll Catch You" and always feel it. Halfway thru this, I heard enough. It's good. But thats all. Something Corporate is starting to make a name for itself, but its hardly a band that I would consider "the next big thing". Not by a long, long shot. Two cents and out. |

Its a shame Chris had to leave this band to start and continue"with Dashboard Confessional. FSF made great songs and music. Kinda selfish of me though if you think about it. I just can't get enough of Chris' songs I guess. Wonderful song. Two cents and out. |

dude, whoever put Coheed in the top 5.. Good fucking job. This bad rocks like a motherfucker. Their live show is amazing, simply amazing. He sings and sounds like the guy from Rush, but his range is amazing. If you haven't heard of this band, I strongly, strongly recommend them and if they come to a show around you, please be sure you get to their show. |

Dashboard Confessional – Hands Down Lyrics

to TheDecline... say you and I start a with a couple friends.. we play very small shows around our town.. and nobody comes except our group of friends in the area. This isn't mainstream.
Say we start becoming popular and put out a 4 song demo that we sell off the internet and spread the demos around at our shows... This isn't mainstream.
If out of nowhere we get signed to a small record label, again, not mainstream.
If we get a video on MTV or on MTV2... thats mainstream...
The music scene is looking for another genre to grab onto and ride and exploit like they did with grunge. A lot of quality bands came out of that 4 year period in the early and mid 90s. But there was also a lot of dog shit bands that didn't deserve it. I just hope that things don't get too carried away with the sudden rise of this music in the mainstream. I know its hard to listen to Thursday and Dashboard and consider them both "emo" or if even either of them really are. But hey, success is success. |

Saves the Day – A Drag In D Flat Lyrics

I'm not sure who's refresh button is red hot but if any STD song should be #1; I personally don't think this is it. This is a great song. I love the opening bass lines. But there is better. If you've somehow never heard of STD, please, check out their album "Through Being Cool".. Such a great great job on that album.. I don't think there is one song that isn't at least good on there. And if for whatever reason, you're not a fan of STD, don't trip just cause some dumb kid got crazy and made this song #1.. this isn't a popularity contest, its just a fucking lyrics site.
And if you like STD, definitely check out the band "Fairweather".. they sound so similar its crazy, but they are an excellent band regardless... "If They Move... Kill Them".. and "Whatever It Takes" are great, great songs by them. |

Dashboard Confessional – Hands Down Lyrics

The bad thing about this site SongMeanings, is it allows every schmuck in america to have an opinion on music. Which is good I guess. But our generation is nothing but apathetic critics. ITS JUST A SONG PEOPLE! Yes this is a good song. Yes I can see why some people wouldn't like it cause a lot of Chris' past work is excellent. ie older Dashboard and his old band FSF. FSF kicks ass. BUT...
I don't understand the new emo scene. Yes emo scene.. I'm grouping it all together. NFG's, STD's, Thursday's, Dashboard's, etc.. all of their success that seems to emerging because of airtime on MTV... The majority of you emo and punk kids are like 5 year olds when it comes to sharing your music with new people. I mean there is nothing wrong with music becoming mainstream. You guys are so ready to jump off the bandwagon just cause its getting a little crowded.. Just because little 12 year old Tiffany Conformer has N'Sync, Britney Spears, BSBs and Dashboard's CDs in her backpack doesn't change the music.
Chris is a talented guy who writes good music. His live show kicks ass and its a shame his life had to have so much heartbreak just so he could enjoy success... Take it with a grain of salt people. Enjoy it for what it is and don't over analyze stupid petty things like which Dashboard song people SHOULD like instead of this one..

Alkaline Trio – Private Eye Lyrics
|
Music is music... If all you listen to is N'Sync, Britney Spears and you think pop music kicks ass.. thats fucking great, your setback in life will have to be not being able to form your own opinions in music or in life. BUT.. when someone only listens to pop, eventually hears about some of these less mainstream bands such as Alkaline or STD or Dashboard or Thursday or TGUK.. and you start to appreciate their music too. Thats great. I personally hate MTV with every precious fiber in my being, but I'm not gonna hold it against some 13 year old chick who digs shitty music if she digs emo and punk music too. Its not my place to pass judgement, plus all the support for these bands the better. I'd like to see them all have as much financial success as possible because they put something special on CDs that a lot of us would be thrilled to be even close to creating. So unless you're a fucking roadie with Alkaline who came up with their fucking band name back when they were in fucking high school, you are just another fan. No matter how much you love them. There is no prize at the end of the day for being more emo or punk than anybody else. 2 cents and out. |
