i think this song is about two people arguing with eachother about an addiction one of them has. He has tried hard to stop his friend from using but the more he tries the farther his friend pushes away(i.e. "my new friends they make me feel alright"). then, in the last lines, the user has realized his friend was right but was too little too late because the damage has been done. |

RedDeath is right. I couldn't have said it better myself. Also, the second part of the song totally represents so many aspects of life. That when giving up seems like the only option, god reaches out and guides us along. Thrice is a great band and i hope to hear more from them in the future. |

I think this song's meaning is about simplicity but it's also about your youth in general. How you can take things for granted and not realize things until their gone. The singer is remembering the fun times he had and wishing he could go back. But looking back on things can only bring sadness and despair. Although when your young, you think you have all the time in the world, time is valuable and make the most of it and be happy with what you have done. This song would connect with a lot of people and like everyone else, i am suprised that this few of peole have posted about it. And also, this is just my interpretation. The beautiful thing about music is that a song means diferent things to different people. |

Give credit to punchline. they managed to get the music and the lyrics to match perfectly. this song is catchy and deosn't overuse the chorus like a lot of emo songs. also, the lyrics are so true and really describe the true long distance relationship that in the end almost never works; even as much as you want it to. |

Lyrically, this song is amazing. The first part i think is about a new relationship that is encountering their first major problem. Since the singer deosn't know whether it will work out or not, he lets go and sink or swim, he will will find out. This ties into the second part of the song perfect. The second part is about life in general. How people who become infatuated over the past(which they have no control over) let the future pass them by. What the singer is trying to tell you is that enjoy life and accept the outcomes. Know that you let yourself live and when your time is up, know that you lived it the best of your ability.
Also, the music alone tells a vivid story that gives me the chills. |
