It's about alot of things. The most obvious one is depression. But it goes so much deeper then that. It's about being depressed and feeling like no one wants to help you. You're put on medication because something is "Wrong" with you, but you don't know what. And it gets so overwhelming, you want to pull and tear at your skin, because no one seems to give a damn. And even when they upset you, it's your fault, because you're "codependent" and other things like that. |

There's a section of the chorus that always spoke to me:

I relate to that so much, wanting to give up everything to make others happy, but feels like instead you're just letting them down over and over.
This song in general is about self destruction/depression and the feelings that come with it. The guilt, the numbess, and the pain, the desire to just find a way to control (ie self injury) or even go to the point of ending it (suicide) because you fear you can never be ok again. This song is so soft and calm, it's eerie, but i love it for the same reasons, it's one of my very favorite nine inch nails songs. |

this is good, but I always liked "The Kids Aren't alright" By The Offspring better. But this was more "soothing" while the offspring one was "dark" so this is of course played more |

To me, this song is about pushing away your past. Something horrible happened, so you "run" from it, instead of facing it and overcoming it. But in reality, all you want to do is erase it. Erase the guilt, pain, and everything else. But you can't. So you avoid it. |
