it seems to be about a relationship and how u just have to let it die peacefully bc its not gonna develop into anything else. the thing is he's known this for a while but still hasnt managed to let go and move on. u get the feeling that even after this self-confession he wouldn't be able to do so. the "we've" is what hinted me towards a relationship but it could be a relationship w. drugs, ED's whatever.
This is one of my ultra fav DM songs. For me its an ultimate 80's track-new wave, power pop. Its easily dancable or at least u can continuously bop ur head to it like a young dave (w. a fully buttoned blue flannel shirt usually reserved for compulsory church services) does.
I think the video is fantastic w. an experimental art theme. |

lol, i cant beleive some1 actually did the "lyrics" for this.
ya, windowlicker also does mean a retard but in the sense of a time-waster, idiot ie. that kid in class who has bcome mentally stumped( excess in vgmes, mall trips, weed, comics, tv) and laughs at stupid things for hrs that ever1 else shakes off.
i think that the title was to show his implication, this song that could be seen as a piece of junk by many, techno rubbish.
thing is its not, Richard doesn't operate like that.
I also dont think its some deep philosophical thing but it sure is hell deeper thn Mtv music they play so its worth thinking about. i think he wanted to create a song that dressed itself like a pop hit that sounds deep but in way that made fun of pple(-half the rubbish pple consider music and showing how shallow it is) and maybe making fun of sex in music(the sexual moans-sex in pop music, the spken french-language of love but means nothing once u translate it just like the emptiness of some spoken lyrics in hallow but popular songs). i got this conclusion after wathing the amazing video since that satirizes hip hop vids.
mayb it could also be poking fun at how we can view relationships in an artifical, rose-tinted light (again, the sexual moans and the french line) but just like the characters in the vid(ya, sorry i cant seperate the two)we are rudely awakened( the girl w Richard's face turning around/ music changes direction then ). things are seen in the real light and simple truth( song's oohing and ahhing have gone and what left is a techno based sound).
does that make any sense? i struggle to find the right words sometimes.

It's like an alternative romantic adreneline pumped tune. i know the lyrics are a minor part in the song itself since most of it is instumental but I think they pulled it off very well. i'm also not into the whole R&B, hip hop but Ashanti is really good and I think that her music is appealing to others like me b/c it isn't typical.
WHat beachgirl meant was that with music in these fields, it's usually very straight forward when reading the lyrics. No hidden meanings like in Alt and rock. I think those are the hardest to decipher and that's why they're the most popular on this site. |

I'm not exactly sure what this song means but i always think about it being about fitting in and being asked if you're in or out of the crowd and i always wonder if i say yes or no. Being in would make me recognized and everyone likes being liked but then I think would I agree with what they do and am I losing myself and because i'm even thinking about this, would my heart truly be in? Boyd wrote terrific lyrics for this song and it used to remind me of someone I cared for and I got my heartbroken etc. but I still cared for him and started popping up in the most unimaginable circumstances!

I truly fell in love with this song and video when I went to the airport a while back and this serious teen couple were breaking up ( and no it wasn't one of those fickle relationships we teens usually attempt) 'cause he was leaving and the song played on the way back home and I thought about them and I just thought wow one day i want to know how it must feel to be so in love like that. |
