This song is pretty deep. I'm not sure, but I think it's about an unloving mother and possibly one that killed herself; "All the times you tried to hurt yourself, you only hurt me" or at least had a lot of problems. And this transfered on her kids and he couldn't even love his siblings? |

On the meanings part of their site it says this:

I wouldn't say it was cute especially when he says "Go ahead slit your wrists". I love the E.P it's awesome.
To me I think this song is about falling for someone and them not wanting to show their real selves and always having to keep up appearances with other people. Just about bring bitter and pissed that someone you cared so much about messed you around I think. |

I really love this song, DATF are one of my favourite bands on Rushmore records. Great lyrics and great music. I think this song is about the end of a relationship and the reflection of the past years and just wondering what the other is doing:
"Can you see the sunset from your highway?
And can you leave those plans for us behind?"
But he's also saying how he's coming to terms with losing her and trying to stay positive by saying he'll move on:
"Cause broken hearts they mend,
To fall in love again,
You won't see me breaking,"
To me, it's basically about having a hard time trying to deal with hearbreak. Pretty simple. |

oh who cares if he's trying to sound like bright eyes, give it a break. wouldn't you rather he was trying to sound like something good as apposed to some shitty band? Yes Conor is better, but seriously who cares? he was influenced by folk bands and blue grass but no ones saying "omg Conor is a rip off of so and so folk band". Just listen to it for what it is, good, enjoyable music. just pretend you're not so caught up in caring so much about things that don't matter. And to the dude that said Bright Eyes is a sellout, you are a complete and utter fuckwit.
Anyway on to the song. It's my favourite song by An Angle. I like how it's not such a "I hate you, you suck" song, it's just a plain old self pity track. The guitar in it is really nice and I love the way the lyrics flow. |

I agree with wnxsnipers6 like you could relate this song to someone who has problems admiting their sexuality to people:

The person's saying they're tired of hiding what they are really from people and they'll live with their 'curse' and try not to feel shame.
Or it could be someone who is gay and really likes someone else but that person's too afraid to come out and they're saying "It might take you all night
But you'll love me with time" like one day they might admit it to themselves and other people but at the same time the writer of the song's saying it's okay because they understand "Take from the rest, your debt erased, Sleep with my curse and feel no shame"
