Sufjan Stevens – Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I go to school in Flint (Kettering University, formerly General Motors Institute for Engineering and Management). Definately reminds me of the town. . . you can see just by driving down Saginaw street through downtown how it used to be a big, exciting, and classy city. Now theres nothing there. Just the buildings. No people. It's always interesting to see pictures of Flint from the past when things weren't so dire. From school, across Chevrolet Ave, there used to be one of GM's biggest factories--now shut down. What remains is a concrete pad the university now owns (but can't do anything with it because of the high cost of decontamination). What I describe is the result of layoffs in the past, GM and Ford have recently closed more plants in the area. |
The Decemberists – Sixteen Military Wives Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I believe the song is called "16 Military Wives" . . . the iTunes release has it labeled as 16 by 32, and I'm not sure why. Although the song can be applied to many events, if you've seen the music video (an excellent video!) it seens to clearly be about the iraq war. |

The Smashing Pumpkins – Soothe Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i'm not sure if it's "hold me, hold me again" or "hungry, hungry again". i've listened to it a few times... could be either. i'll take a peek at a few fan sites to get an idea what they think. |

Soul Asylum – Runaway Train Lyrics | 22 years ago |
i'd subscribe to the second theory of the mesnings of the song.. to me the lyrics say that you have problems, but taking the easy way to deal with the pain will just put you back in the same situation or worse. "seems like i should be getting somewhere somehow i'm neither here nor there " |
Jimmy Eat World – The Middle Lyrics | 22 years ago |
the lyrics really aren't that cryptic. not really at all. |
Britney Spears – Cinderella Lyrics | 22 years ago |
WELL. I made that last comment to show a little bit of wit. Pathetic, right? The truth is, you choose what you listen to in your own time. Personally, i listen to a lot of electronica type things, and to me, pop music isn't all to appealing. My choice, you can take my view, or not. My problem with pop music is that it is really not chosen by who is talented, or who has the best songs, it's about marketability. |

people go to britney spears concerts for the music? |
Garbage – When I Grow Up Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I really dont think that's the truth--though if you really read it that literally, then whatever. I beleive it has to do with Shirleys childhood--when she was young she was really insecure. I think this is the way she said, when she grows up she'll turn the tables on everyone else. |
Andrea Bocelli – Sempre Sempre Lyrics | 22 years ago |
and if you didn't understand that, here is the english translation: After a day like this how sweet to stay here with you. Tonight will come like a pledge of love. After much drought, your water will wash over me, my river, it will hit me. I have looked for you always, always, always, always, always. I dreamed about your essence while walking along the wall. Now that you are nearer to me than ever, I touch you softly in the dark. The rosy heat of your world makes me forget about the cold winters. When you return to me always, always, always, always, always. Tomorrow is more important than the present, Always, always, always, always, always. We live in speed, everything consumed in haste. This moment you will see, can never end. Many people around me, thinking only of themselves, and where are you? You know I miss you so much, always, always, always, always, always. Life goes on and nothing will be greater than when we are together. Always, always, always, always, always. There is only one promise, I will give it to you every moment, because you are greater than my heart, open and watchful, always, always, always, always, always The tomorrow of the present, always, always, always, always, always, is only one word, but it will always be like this. How sweet the night together here with you. It is the true night, like a promise of our love. |
