explain how FF sold out and Nirvana didn't.... the confusion was on purpose. 1996 and ACSS were intended to be fundamentally linked, that is to say, they are two halves to one song. A big part of manson's image is the fact that he is enigmatic in many ways. he intentionally makes most of his music difficult to understand, so that his underlying message reaches the people willing to listen to him with out bias, and as a bonus, the people who judge him at face value get more pissed off with him, which is what he has wanted all along. |

how do you know i'm not manson? really? How do you know I'm not Brian Warner himself? I'm not, but you did make an asumption. And my reference to "you" IS all of the media goons who take manson's songs at face value, and NOT those who try. I may seem harsh with my evaluation of the whole "-2/2" metaphor set forth by cakemeat. mainly because that really doesn't make any sense at all. one thing cannot be its exact opposite at the same time. that defies logic.
Manson has also made public statements about the meanings of several of his songs. And I never said that I DID understand all of his songs. you simply took what I said, manipulated, perverted, and truncated it.

Manson isn't just an entertainer, he's a philosopher, a visionary, a anti - prophet, if you will. Most media whores thrive on attention. Manson set out, by his own admission, (quoth an excerpt from his autobiography) to create music that "lures you in, kicks your ass, teaches you something, and sets you free.
The lure is his appearance, and personality.
the kick is the exformation of his lyrics,
the lesson is the true understanding of his message,
and the freedom is application of his philosophy.
I am a child of Marilyn Manson.

I have a few things to say to MansoniteMaggot666 and Slap Happy Squirrel.
First of all, SHS, I do agree with MM666 in that wasting of web space with open bashing of an artist who has worked really hard to birth something great, music. I do not use this site to look up lyrics from artists I hate. You will not find my user name attached to any Backstreet Boys songs, saying that they should be "kicked in the dick" as you so eloquently put it. I use this site to help better appreciate artists I already like, and ones I'm confused about.
NExT....MM666, I do appreciate you efforts in defending Manson, but I really must say you went about it with more zeal than preparation (or intelligence, or maturity).
Overall, I think you both have some underlying issues to deal with. SHS has an inferiority complex, and over-compensates by attacking the innocent. MM666 is either too lazy, or too uneducated to articulate what he means with the correct denotation. Ultimately, SHS and MM666 decend to the equivalent of two first graders repeatedly calling each other "doodie-head." |

Look, this is a CONCEPT ALBUM!!!!! Duke Lion Fights the Terror tells a story, and each song is a chapter in the book. The mighty penis laser is just one of the spiffy villians he has to overcome, like the Burning blood red head on fire. I know concept albums are hard for morons like you to follow (read: Pink Floyd's The Wall, Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar, and Fear Factory's Demanufacture) ergo they don't sell well, but I personally think It's a hell of a lot more difficult (and impressive) to produce a concept album, in that it takes extra talent and intelligence to write music that isn't just stand alone, agreed, Duke Lion Fights the Terror is a rather silly concept album, but humor is seriously overlooked in modern music. Plus wouldn't it be awesome to shoot lasers out of your cock? |

Okay, I'm gonna tackle this one bit by bit so bare with me, 'kay?
The first stanza mentions dreams, either in the sense of somnabulistic visions, or of one's aspirations.
The second stanza is about a murder "I blew a bad man away" implies a shooting. and the "higher ground, had to be told" line alludes to the murder as an act of moral resolve; the murderer had a nonpersonal motive (such as the assassination of a politician based on his/her poor job in whatever position, or difference of opinion by the gunman).
The third stanza is an attempt to justify the crime. "don't trust people you meet they might promise you that the river ain't deep" The victim was, in the eyes of the killer, one of many dishonest people in the world, and this line cajoles the killer's peers to at least distrust, if not (following his example) murdering other liars.
The fourth stanza describes the surreal emotions of the killer after the murder; his life is a walking dream. "passing through me" is perhaps literally, "passing by me" as in, as the murderer walks the streets, many unassuming citizens pay no heed to him. To them, he is another faceless body in the human masses. The reference to the killer's heart mending implies some remorse for his actions, and "i'm gonna bring it all back to you " is a promise for reform.
The last stanza is a reiteration of the third. |

seriously darkpop, you need to realize that although lots of songs are about drugs, there a quite a lot more of them that are not. This song, for example is most definitely about a bout with self-loathing, and general disgust with the world around him (2-D), and drugs may or may not be part of his exit from the corporeal.
