"looking out for anything that could fall and hit your head"
aw... how cute...
hehe, i met ben a while back, told him this was my favorite lyric of his, and he laughed at me. then he gave me a high five. "at least it isn't something from wasted and ready" he said. |

The Get Up Kids – Out of Reach Lyrics

some consider it depressing... i don't know, my experience with this tune involves a hotel room filled with people jamming and we just all started playing and singing... guitar, bass and bongos... plus all those voices... it was incredible... we were away at a festival, and it made me think of my girlfriend back home. made me feel better. the lines "i've got pictures to prove i was there, but you don't care" seem so negative, but i took them as positive... you have all these pictures, "look where i was!" but she doesn't care "it doesn't matter, you're home now... i missed you so much" she doesn't care about the pictures... just you. that's touching. amazing song. this and i'll catch you being my two personal fav guk songs. check out bright eyes. |

Saves the Day – Ups And Downs Lyrics
|
it's easy to say that this song is about suicide... hell, you could do that about almost every one of saves the day's songs... the thing is, i don't agree with it. it's just chris using an extremely powerful image and extremely powerful lyrics to convey a totally unrelated point. std are masters of taking an ordinary subject and making it into a very extraordinary metaphor. look deeper kids, there's so much more waiting for you to discover. thanks. |

The Get Up Kids – I'll Catch You Lyrics

this is one of those songs to put on a mixtape for the one you love. it's one of those songs that when played in a small room filled with people, all singing along, you have the strongest connection with them that you've ever heard. it's one of those songs that when the guk play it live you just have to stand there speechless, slack-jawed, admiring every note, every word, every subtle movement. perfect in any context, i can honestly say this is one of the most emotional songs written in the past 20 years (i'd say 10, but i might as well stick with 20... the 80s don't really count for much other than the smiths, the pixies, and sonic youth). if this song were a human, it would be crucified and rise from the dead. this song... is jesus. |

Dashboard Confessional – Living In Your Letters Lyrics
| 22 years ago
|
"turning to you is like falling in love when you're ten" oh man... that is the best feeling, the innocent grade-school "love" feeling... if you still get it when you're with someone for a relatively long time, way to go, you've got it made. beautiful song. |

Dashboard Confessional – Age Six Racer Lyrics
| 22 years ago
|
the weakerthans are an amazing band... better songwriting than dashboard, in my opinion at least (more complex, poetic). i love dashboard for its simplicity. he's speaking his mind in a very teenage kind of way. very relatable. in response to stealth, you might enjoy listening to bright eyes if you dig dc. very much relationship-related songs, usually with unhappy endings. the singer sometimes gets so involved in the emotion of the songs you can actually hear him crying. quite touching. anyway age six racer... i have no idea what the title means but god what a beautiful song. everyone says it's about a summer romance, but i don't see why it has to be limited to summer: i always took the meaning as "summer" refering to the actual relationship metaphorically... like, the relationship was like a warm and comforting summer's day... and now it's over, like summer turning to fall. that's just what i got out of it though. |

Pedro the Lion – Options Lyrics

Take this comment as a response to the whole album (Control), one of the most brilliant albums I've heard in ten years. The attitude throughout the whole thing is so mocking and satirical of the "normal" modern way of life, it's refreshing to have someone oppose that in music. Divorce has become such a fallback, marriage not seen as sacred... Why do we need options? Why can't we go back to a time when marriage was forever? This song especially struck me as brilliant while listening to the album. I'd quote a part of it and point out why it's brilliant but I can't pick a line that's better than the others. The whole thing, talking about a "love" that's easy to get out of for convenience's sake. I really hope anyone that listens to this takes the message to heart. It's an important one. Thank you Mr. Bazan for writing such incredible music. |

Pedro the Lion – Slow and Steady Wins the Race Lyrics

Well... I myself (not Christian, I should say) have always taken most of Bazan's songs at face value... as Christian rock, this song being one of the more obvious ones. I don't know, I've never really had a belief in a higher power, I just like this (and other Pedro tracks) for what they contain, great songwriting, great storytelling, great vocals, and a positive message. My three cents. |

Death Cab for Cutie – Steadier Footing Lyrics

The best-written DCFC song. It's so touching, and it's inconspicuousness (first track on The Photo Album, very short, no drums...) just adds to the effect. I loves it. |
