The Mars Volta – Vicarious Atonement Lyrics

I'm pretty sure the line "Don't you pretend" dates all the way back to Concertina on their first EP.
"Don't you pretend
Tangled in thorns, to walk unborn." |

Sparta – Sans Cosm Lyrics

I would have to say that Sparta's lyrics are just not up to par with At the Drive-In or The Mars Volta. I mean, okay, they're all right if he's streamlining, but otherwise... I fail to see any meaning behind much of these songs. |

Saves the Day – As Your Ghost Takes Flight Lyrics

I can't believe no one has seen the religious references in this song! The first two sentences are direct. "Hammer and spikes." For goodness sakes people! Anyways. I think this song is about how he used to have faith but has lost it. He might be trying to get it back and his old self is hanging on. That is all. Later. |

The Black Heart Procession – Your Church Is Red Lyrics

Does this song sound like he's confessing to a murder to anyone else? "There's a killer in the mirror" "When the bells ring they'll all come to see." It souns like he's apollogizing for it. "Cange your hate," "For my change of heart." Very strange. I hope I'm wrong. |

Whoah, the line WILL THOSE SHADOWS GLARE FROM THAT BLANK RIMMED STARE IN A VACANCY HUSH is saying "Will the truth of those dead eyes be found?"

Harangue is English and has nothing to do with the Spanish form of lazyness. It means a speech given with strong feeling; it's synonym is tirade. |

The Smiths – A Rush and a Push and the Land Is Ours Lyrics

Although it could be refering to his homosexuality, I'd like to offer a different view. I think this song is about Vietnam. Many of The Smiths, and Morrissey's songs deal with Vietnam. I.E. Everyday is Like Sunday by Morrissey. Download that one. It's awesome. |

At the Drive-In – Star Slight Lyrics

This song is about a person who is all alone because they are not following tradition. "We promote this cover, discover" is saying that he is in the right, and that the person it is talkng about knows him/herself to be right as well. |

At the Drive-In – Speechless Lyrics

"I'm doing fine" is not a hopeful note. It is talking about how the beaten lie to their freinds, their loved ones, and themselves. "When everything is wrong, you'll just lie." That's what it says. |

Phantom Planet – California Lyrics

There is one thing that everyone is missing about this song. If you don't notice, there is a very depressed under tone to the entire thing. This song is talking about how horrible Hollywood is, considering that everyone that thinks of California thinks of Stardum. This song is about the fact that even though they don't like California, they still can't break free. "Right back where we started From." |

Wow, can we say one of the most depressing songs in the history of music. Dear God, this is forever, this is forever. Death comes, and that's the end. |

Stagnant, still and ever changing. Placid and utterly depressing. This is my number on anti-jock song! I love this friggin song! I can't believe how awesome ATDI writes! |
