I heard this song for the first time when I bought the live CD set "Gut the Van". Ever since I listened to it the first time I have been listening to it non-stop. I can't go a day without playing this song while driving to school or home from school. |

I used to know how to play this song on my guitar, but since I haven't played my guitar in ages I forgot. I agree, though, that this song should be longer. It just doesn't seem right how short it is, it makes me sad :( |

this verse gets me everytime I listen to this song. It is just so powerful, and sad. I agree with Dorky that this song is about someone who helped them, and they never got a chance to thank them. It's just such a great song. |

From what I have read this song was titled "Granny" even before it was written. I don't know if the title necessarily fits anything but the first verse of the song, but it doesn't matter too much. All in all this is just a great song... However I still can't manage to put my finger on exactly what it is about. |

This is such a great song to listen to if you are in one of those depressed, sad moods. It isn't a very "cryptic" song, so it is rather easy to figure out what it means. Just by listening to the chorus you can tell it is about someone breaking your heart, and drinking the pain away. |

I am on a commenting spree here :) I just have so much to say when it comes to all of dmb's music. This song especially has a great deal of meaning to it. I like to think of this song being about a tree that plays a huge role in one person's life where many of their childhood memories come from, and the day that it dies and how that plays in the life of the person. It really is a rather deep song that takes some time to understand fully. |

I absolutely love this song. I know it is rather popular but it is still wonderfully written and I find that I can really relate to this song. Everytime I hear it I feel that I am standing on the beach with with someone I really love... I think that is a pretty good reason to like the song :) |
