His Hero Is Gone – Anthem of the undesirables Lyrics | 15 years ago |
at one of HHIG live shows, Todd said this song is about being "proud to be fucking ugly". |
Assuck – Blight Of Element Lyrics | 21 years ago |
These lyrics are so good. The blight of element... A harsh perspective of existence itself. Not much more than this ever needs to be said. |
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony – 1st of tha Month Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Capitalism is worse than anything this song mentions, you dumb fuck, and welfare only deters capitalism. Swastikas and klan robes, sexist racist homophobes, ariyan nations and hammer skins.... YOU CAN WEAR MY NUTS ON YOUR NAZI CHINS. Go check out the lyrics to "The only good facist is a very dead facist" by Propagandhi |
Propagandhi – March Of The Crabs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I thought it was about protesting against war. The fight never happened - mission accomplished? |
The Exploited – Sex And Violence Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Worst part about this song is illustrated above... Very easily taken into the wrong context. |
Propagandhi – With Friends Like These, Who the Fuck Needs COINTELPRO Lyrics | 22 years ago |
CoIntelPro was a program the CIA used to kill or silence key people in the political movements of the 70's, such as John Lennon, MLK, etc, I believe. I could very well be wrong. |
Propagandhi – Less Talk, More Rock Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Hahaha... I think that this song is a play on all of the macho mother fuckers who go to concerts to fuckin rock out, and show everyone (including themselves) how fuckin' tough they are. "less talk more rock!" they scream. This song is for them. Funny thing is, I bet some homophobe considers this his favorite song, probably headbangs to it, and has never heard the lyrics. |
Propagandhi – Purina Hall Of Fame Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I'm pretty sure this song is pretty much saying that animals are quite often a lot better creatures than their human "masters". |
Nirvana – Heart-Shaped Box Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I gotta agree with the child with cancer theory. The metaphors are perfect. "Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet." This describes cancer perfectly, and it forgives nobody, not even a child. "Cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath." Meaning the child is innocent yet still got cancer. "Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back" yet another amazing metaphor depicting the innocence of a child being brought down by cancer. |
Tool – Disgustipated Lyrics | 22 years ago |
The first part is about the cycle of life. Rabbits eat carrots. Carrots supposedly make your eyes better. |
Tool – Crawl Away Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I don't have much to comment on, but when I hear the line "this is my love" I always imagine that is the point at which the singer is sticking said knife into back. |
Tool – Undertow Lyrics | 22 years ago |
One of my personal favorite Tool songs. The intensity emitted at the finale of this song puts shivers through my spine as Keenan stretches the word "euphoria" out over what seems to be eons of time, symbolizing the pull of the undertow as it brings you down into oblivion. Of course as with all of Tool's songs, the lyrics are not very user friendly, and are quite open to metaphoric interperetation. My current thought, and probably the most obvious would be that the undertow represents the numbing pull of addiction. Addiction to anything really, something that someone becomes attatched to, sucking them into a mindless typhoon of bliss where they don't need to think, and where they can't feel. Something all too common in todays world of sitcoms and QVC, this complex world has a man-made veil of simplicity masking it from the things we fear, and instead of living life we get sucked into the mindless euphoria represented by the undertow in this song. That is my current thought on it, always changing, always thinking. Please, I would like to hear others opinions as well. |
Tool – Stinkfist Lyrics | 22 years ago |
As Treestump began to point out, I have thought that this song was about desensitisation. People get involved or addicted to certain things, living in a cold and numb bubble of existance, ultimately missing out on life. |
Tool – Swamp Song Lyrics | 22 years ago |
hmm rzatheraza, I can see your point. It is an interesting one. The lyrics in this song are not linear by any means - one could come up with all sorts of metaphoric philosophies for it. An obvious one could be drugs or alcohol, for example. |
Tool – Die Eier Von Satan Lyrics | 22 years ago |
It is a recipe in german, using references to "the eggs (or balls) of satan". To me, it is a test. Imagine someone listening to this song for the first time, and thinking "ohh these guys sing about satan and stuff in german, probably leading some nazi revolution" and they are immediately turned off, and label tool as "satan worshipping nazis" or something. The said person would have failed the test. This song to me, tests a persons ability to thnk for themselves, and to think without blindly judging something. |
Tool – Reflection Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I think that the ego is often outdated for the common person in day to day life in this modern society. We are born with the ego for survival, but in todays society, physical survival is quite simple, and the ego often gets in the way. I believe this song implies that to advance, to further develop and evolve, we must crucify the ego. Imagine someone who lets their ego get he best of them, then imagine an incident involving that person if they simply put away with their ego, and it is easy to see how the song is significant. |
Tool – Prison Sex Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Any ideas on what sort of metaphor could be taken from "only this one holy medium brings me peace of mind"? Thanks.. |
Tool – Third Eye Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Hmm.. I posted a comment on this song a long time ago, it seems to have been deleted. This song is the grand finale of Ænema. This collaberation of every meaning behind the other songs in Ænema is a metaphoric sea of beauty. It reminds us to keep an omnispective view of everything, to question and contemplate existance, to not believe blindly, amongst other things. |
