This is how I feel right now as I sit in my flat in Oxford, three weeks away from being back in the US for an indefinite period. I just wish this was home. |

Pedro the Lion – Discretion Lyrics

I've recently read that Pedro's newest album won't be a concept album, but I can't really understand that. I can't make heads nor tails of this song if it doesn't fit into some larger timeline. If this song stands alone, I'm not really sure how much sense it makes... |

Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics

The interesting thing about the title is that it IS clever. The question is, is the good news for the people and they won't like it? Or is it that he has good news for them: that he has bad news. If they like bad news, then getting bad news would be considered good news for them. Clever indeed. |

Metaphor Is Audio – Autumn's Leaves Lyrics

cap'n sam....good that someone here knows Metaphor is Audio...I actually know the guy that wrote this song. If you hear the actual cd, the ending is weird and doesn't really go with the rest of the song...its because it was written after he left |

Pedro the Lion – Second Best Lyrics

Okay, I lied. I am now disagreeing with myself and saying that this is from the mistress' perspective. Who else would know about all the things within the motel? Also, in the last song, the wife has already resigned herself to becoming unoriginal, in otherwords, killing her husband. Why in the very next song would she be sad when her decision is already made? If the songs were in reverse, I would agree with myself, but as they are, this has to be from the mistress. |

Death Cab for Cutie – Company Calls Epilogue Lyrics

I've been listening to the Facts version of this song, and I would have to agree with you myeyes...on Facts there is this weird echo that sounds cool until you concentrate on it too much. Dang....I've probably cursed you all into concentrating on it too much. Don't. Anyway, this song kicks. The best song Death Cab has ever done. By the way, does anyone know how to add the Postal Service? the rock too, but I want their lyrics |

Pedro the Lion – Backwoods Nation Lyrics

Something interesting about his dropping the "f-bomb" is when asked, he said that that is how he regularly talked, so why shouldn't he use it in his songs? I was a bit unsure of this because he never cursed at his shows, but then I read some other interview where he got mad and it was in there quite a bit. But good call fatagainstthin, as long as its for something good, who cares? |

Pedro the Lion – Penetration Lyrics

Here's the even cooler thing about Pedro. Not only does he not "preach" to non-christians, but the entirity of Winners Never Quit is preaching TO christians. I know how much stuff I do wrong as a christian, so its good to see someone addressing that rather than saying that all christians are perfect. Because we're not. |

This song is so awesome. I find it interesting how they've used an old nursery rhyme in it, then twisted it. Its such a great message to the world: HUSH> |

Okay, I'll agree with you. But only a little bit. AA has some good lyrics. But some are completely terrible. Woo hoo, do you know where YOU are gonna go? Wow, how extremely self-righteous. I dunno, I get tired of listening to bands that pretend that they are awesome. It bores me |

Don't be ridiculous. Of course I know where I'm going. But don't these lyrics sound pointed at secular people asking do they know where they'll go? Yet I can't think of one secular person who, after hearing this song, decides to be a christian. Rather than this song sounding caring, it comes off as self-righteous instead. |

Pedro the Lion – The Longer I Lay Here Lyrics

I'd have to agree with the whole masturbation thing. Its a bit hard to come up with any thing else it could be about. I mean maybe laziness, but does a person really get less lazy whenever the works done?? I know I don't. jce, thanks for the help on Priests/Paramedics, but I'd have to disagree with you on this one too, because although you say why it can't be about masturbation, you never give what it could be about. How can we say that this is about something nice, like laziness, when Bazan NEVER talks about things that are all nice and pretty. Face it, its about masturbation, the hardest addiction to stop. |

Okay. This song totally rocks. But here is what I'm wondering: is David actually saying that we shouldn't try to postpone life?? I'm confused mainly because, to me, it would seem like we might as well just not live ever if thats the case. Could someone explain this to me? |

jacob, I'll let you in on a little secret. Although it may not seem this way to you, AA sweetens everything. Every topic is so saturated with words that only Christians can understand that it becomes unpopular even for those Christians. Plus, AA hardly ever touches "real" topics. All this talk of death and living for Christ is great, but why not sing songs about things that'll help people? You want a prime example of this?? Check out "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" or "Rapture" by Pedro the Lion. Now those are lyrics that don't sweeten anything, just be brutally honest. |

guys I think there is an important point that you all are missing. The Bible says to love EVERYONE. So all of you that included little comments to mr. merak need to rethink them. Rather than saying that his words are pointless to some message, actually talk to him. If you're going to take a stand, you don't always have to take it in public, |

Why has no one commented on this?!? This song is brilliant. How awesome that David uses such language to demonstrate how everyone is selling out to Corporate America. We teach it to our young. All that we care about anymore is money. Its so hard to understand how terrible that is until a person hears this song. |
