Sting – Shadows In The Rain Lyrics 21 years ago
Hey, if you're going to copy somebody, it may as well be yourself. I mean, it works for Mel Brooks, right?
I do like this jazzy version better than the one that appears on Zenyatta Mondatta. I've always felt that The Police just didn't know where they were going with that third album.
Sting brought back one of his favorites here. I love how this song and Moon Over Bourbon Street go together (there's a little lunacy in all of us).

Sting – Little Wing Lyrics 21 years ago
ahhh, Sting does Hendrix. Part of his trifecta at the time. Little Wing went on the album. Purple Haze was performed during the concert tour and on Saturday Night Live. Up From the Skies was the b-side to Englishman in New York.

Sting – Moon Over Bourbon Street Lyrics 21 years ago
I always thought of it as a werewolf song too.
"Oh you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet
While there's a moon over Bourbon Street
If he were a vampire, then you would see and hear him during night.
If he's a werewolf, then he would change by the light of the moon. The man would not be seen nor heard during this time...but the werewolf would.
Isn't that why there's a howl at the end of the song...especially on the live version on Bring on the Night.

Sting – She's Too Good For Me Lyrics 21 years ago
I always thought of this song as The Continuing Story of Roxanne. I believe that the "she" in this song is a call-girl of some sort.
She doesn't want to have anything to do with him other than the interlude of their brief rendezvous. And, he never says that she doesn't want or won't take his money.

U2 – Mothers Of The Disappeared Lyrics 21 years ago
I think that it is because of this song that Sting was able to write "They Dance Alone" and put it on Nothing Like the Sun. Same topic.

U2 – Exit Lyrics 21 years ago
I had heard that the guy who killed the actress Rebecca Shaeffer (My Sister Sam) listened to this song to put him in the mood to kill her.
I've listened to this song thousands of times and I have never been put in the mood to commit murder.

U2 – Bad Lyrics 21 years ago
It seems that every U2 album needs a song about heroin and it needs a song with a great crescendo. This song is both.

U2 – All I Want Is You Lyrics 21 years ago
This would be a great song to sing to your wife on your wedding night at the reception in front of hundreds of your closest friends and family.

R.E.M. – The One I Love Lyrics 21 years ago
Well, I was 17 when this song was released and hit the Top 40. I have ALWAYS heard it was a "hate" song. In particular, Stipe was singing it to a former (male) lover.
Imagine that the chorus has the unspoken lines "Ready, Aim..." before he sings "Fire!"
The song is about being tormented by a duplicitous ex-lover who you wished you could see at the receiving end of a firing line. Alanis Morrisette eat your heart out.
