I hate this song. I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan of Jewel's previous efforts. I'm saying it because I hate the sound. I suppose the lyrics are alright, but the age demographic which this song is aimed at... well, those kids aren't likely to really delve for any irony or satire and will instead just embrace her sudden change of heart and joining the ranks of Britney and Christina and all the other females who like taking their clothes off in pictures. Oh well. Maybe she'll surprise me and her next single will be better. |

I recently attended a Chicks concert and they actually made a video for this song, but they weren't sure if it would ever make it to TV or not. Anyway, what I got from the video is that the little boy (this wasn't explicit, but inferred) was abused at least emotionally by his mother and he later took that out on both is wife and daughter. The boy, now a feeble old man and unable to care for himself, laments his life in his chair while his grown daughter acts as his caretaker. I do hope the video makes it to TV one day.
