Our Lady Peace – If You Believe Lyrics 22 years ago
Some of the other, newer songs tend to sound a bit too similar. This one doesn't sound so poppy, and I love the guitar here. And, since this is my first listen, hmm... Either I'm way off base, or I'm pointing out something painfully obvious :P. I get the impression that this is about a girl, I don't know why. The girl wanted the perfect life, gave everything for it. But she failed, And now she has nothing to fix it. If she could see the good in it all, the oppurtunities, she could make it. Hmm, actually, that does seem painfully obvious, hehe.

The White Stripes – Little Bird Lyrics 22 years ago
I think it does... He's kidnapping a girl who won't like him, and who he can't have any other way. When she's there, if she doesn't play along, he's going to teach her a lesson. He has nothing good in his life besides her, so he's willing to chance taking her, because he can't go without her.

Denis Leary – Asshole Lyrics 22 years ago
Yeah, it's just about a guy being an asshole (specifically Dennis Leary). There's no deep meaning to it, it's supposed to be funny. It is funny.

The Chicks – Long Time Gone Lyrics 22 years ago
I've just left my radio on Cat Country lately, and heard this song. I'm, sorry, but I've never liked country a bit. But this song is about the first one I heard on the station, and now I never leave the station. I love the Chicks ^_^

The Get Up Kids – Mass Pike Lyrics 22 years ago
I downloaded three songs to see how sad the Get Up Kids are, and, although they were all pretty poor... this one took the cake. How simple a rhyme. It isn't even a rhyme. It uses "you" and then "you" again. I'm not saying everything depends on rhyming in songs, but it has a cliche wannabe-ironic theme and the choice of words is childish and annoying. Just my opinion, kids...

Cake – The Distance Lyrics 22 years ago
My response was deleted... Well, anyways I can rewrite it.

I simple interest of the "compleat" understanding of the English language, "compleat" is spelled "complete." Therefor, "compleatness" is spelled "completeness." Not to pick on you, but you know how it is. ^_*

Also, I've always thought of this song differently than the ideas presented so far. I've always thought of it in the sense that a man is going the distance after the cup has already been won, while she's all alone in her time of need. As in, he's already done with her, but he's going the distance by himself while she's alone. Eh, I could be wrong, but that's my interpretation. :p

They were at the Musikfest in Bethlehem? My god, what have I done. I never go to that Musikfest. I live in Northampton, so damned close. I wish I'd known. *sigh*

Firewater – Fell Off The Face Of The Earth Lyrics 22 years ago
This is a sappy song, but not excessively so. It's incredible in its presentation, because, in spite of it's theme, it managed to make itself sound upbeat and yet self-scolding. I love the
"Why should I try to hang on
When the world keeps shutting me out
I've done everything wrong"
I'm sorry, I hate it when people copy and paste whole parts of the song in a post, but I can't help it here. I love that part.

The Shins – Caring Is Creepy Lyrics 22 years ago
Hmm. I like that meaning, but I can't relate to it. I have an opinion about everything and I'm assertive about every opinion. Just how I am. I think about everything and form ideas and thoughts. But how can you be too indifferent just to bullshit? It doesn't really affect anything, so who cares. tootiredtocare, tell your friend to stop forming so many opinions about your indifference and stop caring, because you're indifferent to all her comments anyhow and they're not getting her anywhere.

The Beatles – Across the Universe Lyrics 22 years ago
How can you say that, glamorous*sunrise? Fiona Apple sings gorgeousely and the song fits her so well. It fits in among her songs as if it was her own. She adapted a song which held great meaning, and glorified it. The song is so alike her own, I would think she and its author work on parallel lines of thought. She sung it masterfully and, I think, her version is smoother than the origional. She slowed it down, which, I think, is more fitting. She sings it somberly, which fits the lyrics better. The guitar playing is better, too, I think. It's played more... flowy, as if the notes are slurred. In the origional, the notes are sometimes plucked, it seems. I don't feel that effect matches the lyrics. I also like Fiona's ending better. They are both good songs, and I don't see how you could feel Fiona's version was simply bleh.
