Less Than Jake – I Would Walk 500 Miles (The Proclaimers cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
ANTHEM sucks

I wasted money.

Mad Caddies – Weird Beard Lyrics 21 years ago
All-American Badass should be considered polka in my opinion. The tuba and accordion make it more polka, and they even refer to "polka" many times in the song. But enough of that, I like "Weird Beard" because it's unique. Very different from some of the boring, sing-songy anthems on the album, which make up for about half of the CD.

Mad Caddies – We'll Start To Worry When The Cynics Start Believing Lyrics 21 years ago
Although the lyrics don't stand out much in this song, it's quite catchy and has a nice hook. The guitar is really sweet.

Mad Caddies – Days Away Lyrics 21 years ago
I love the way the Caddies incorporate so many styles into their music. Still among their favorites is the dub style heard in this song. I also love the jazz and polka beats.

I went to Ska Summit in Las Vegas and my biggest complaint was those moshers in the skank circles. Arg

NOFX – Jenny Jenny (867-5309) (Tommy Tutone cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
Less than Jake isn't good anymore. Neither is NOFX. Bands suck now. Well, at least the Mad Caddies are still good.

NOFX – Drugs Are Good Lyrics 21 years ago
NOFX pushes irony to an absurd limit in most of their songs and this is just another example. They flagrantly contradict long-held morals to get attention.

NOFX – Straight Edge (Minor Threat cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't think they were making fun of it. I think it was one of Fat Mike's (or Hefe, whoever wrote the song) strange ideas to make something completely stupid just because he can. The song is done in a Louis Armstrong imitation, which leads me to believe it's a kind of inside joke or just a stupid concept of randomness.

NOFX – Always Hate Hippies Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't agree with this song at all. This is a great example of Fat Mike writing a silly, joke song and a bunch of stupid kids taking it too seriously. There is nothing wrong with hippies. Why would you hate someone just because they are benevolent by nature. That is the underlying concept of hippies. Their concepts of free love, peace, etc., are meant as benevolent in theory, but people can distort the views of hippies and degrade them to the stereotype of stinky bums. Also, no one seems to like hippies, which I guess would make them social outcasts. Isn't punk about acceptance no matter what? It's not about wearing spiked bracelets and punk "uniforms." You can thank the Sex Pistols for that stupid stereotype. Punk is about individuality and accepting social outcasts, which would mean that the hippies should be accepted too. Hippies should be a true punker's best friend because punk isn't about anarchy or anything stupid like that, it's about individuality and benevolence in the world.

NOFX – Idiot Son of an Asshole Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it's really hard to respect the political views of NOFX when they name a song "Idiot Son of an Asshole." Even "Murder the Government," though a sarcastic song, has lowered my opinion of the band greatly. I don't think George W. Bush is altogether that bad. They also have a song called "Reagan Sucks." It just seems they really hate presidents. Or maybe they're anti-Repulican? Who knows. I just think they need a better definition of what kind of government they really want before they go and bash our current government because our president isn't too bright.

Incubus – Version Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is about how everything in life revolves around money, and everyone's trying to get your money, specifically the government. Brandon is asking why we can't each live self-sufficiently, and we have to submit to the system in which we pay taxes and fines and bills.

Ramones – Beat on the Brat Lyrics 21 years ago
There is no real depth to this song. Joey was inspired to write it because he saw a woman chasing her son with a baseball bat. Then he just threw in a few 'Oh yeah's. That's not to say it's a bad song. I'd like to think not all good songs have to have really deep lyrics. I like songs for different reasons; sometimes for the lyrics, sometimes for the melody, sometimes both.
