The Moody Blues – Question Lyrics

I never thought of it like this when I listened to it, but looking at the lyrics it sounds like a break-up song.
It mentions losing the love, and looking for someone. It sounds like he lost the wall of love that was sheltering him from the bad in the world, and now is questioning it. |

The Kinks – Lola Lyrics

The lyrics printed on the album cover say "I'm glad I'm a man".
I always assumed that Ray Davies intentionally used a clever twist to make the song ambiguous. |

I think lordofsandwiches is right. The song compares love to a drug high along the same lines as Huey Lewis's "I Want A New Drug". There are drug references, but it's a love song. |

Elton John – Your Song Lyrics

I was watching a TV show about Elton John and Bernie Taupin a while back. Elton said that Bernie wrote this song for a girl he was either seeing at the time. Whatever Elton might have been thinking about when he sang it, it was written for a girl. |

The first half of the song is based on a real event. The details are exaggerated, but Alice, the restaurant, the church, the garbage and Officer Obie were all real. |

Prince – I Would Die 4 U Lyrics

I used to think it was just about someone declaring his (or her) love to a lover. After actually reading the lyrics, I realized it is about Jesus. I read up on Prince and found out that he is quite spiritual. |

Eagles – Tequila Sunrise Lyrics

I always thought it was the other way around. I thought the first part was about a friend of his. The singer is the one who betrayed his friend by getting with his girlfriend. The hollow feeling is his guilt.
Although the singer's whole world is changed by what he did, the sun still comes up and the world goes on. |
