i love how versatile modest mouse are. especially on this album. you've got lounge (closing time) and shit luck and teeth like gods shoeshine.... and then at the end of the album is this song which is the most beautiful song i have heard in a while. just lyrically and musically beautiful. beautiful. i want this song playing on my deathbed. |

all of alkaline trio's songs just boil down to bad relationships bad alcohol or self-destruction. good stuff besides. this is one of the more underrated alk3 songs, just like the whole self titiled album is the most underrated album. cooking wine, snake oil tanker, goodbye forever, lied my face off.... and this?!?!! on the same album?!!??!?! i thought i was fucking dreaming. |

i had never heard a song by hopesfall ever. then i picked up the AMP magazine with sAMPler 11 and it had this song. that cd had some of my favorite artists on it (hot water music, tsunami bomb, let it burn) and this was BY FAR the best song on the cd. great song. |

other notes from the video: before the scene in the sky with jordan dressed as a chicken, a billboard saying "Sugar Free" appears behind them, this is NFG saying that this new album is less poppy and returns to a more edgy type of music. Also, I believe that chicken scene is representing what MTV wants people to view NFG, in a land where everything is happy and the sun is shining, but NFG knows they've just been pulling them down (as vocalized by the sun) |

what i love about this song is that it shows a new NFG, more political than ever before. It could be about girls, possibly, but it's a lot deeper than that, expecially if u watch the video. For instance, the large robot-y thing and its minions build a city around the band members, raises them up on a big platform, and then proceeds to show one member naked in a freak show, and the robots elctro-shock another member, then at the end the city crumbles. This can represent big businesses like MTV and the radio statons building up riches around their music, when really NFG justs want to make their music and please their true underground fans. There are some other possible meanings (there's another intriguing argument ive heard about this song representing our present crappy government) but i think the one i just said is most accurate. |

that right there is the best line in any RX song ever. this is a kickass song. i like the manifest destiny mention in there. am i the only one who notices that songs that mention manifest destiny kick ass? like the old west by five iron frenzy, which compares neo-christian crazy ppl to ppl who killed native americans in the manifest destiny period. |

i was at an alkaline trio show in NJ (home of the Bouncing Souls, who were there that night) and they played this song, they said that even though it's on Rock Against Bush it has nothing to do w/ Bush. He said it was about "their ongoing war with the Bouncing Souls" (to loosely quote Matt Skiba). Therefore, i think the ppl who are saying it's about Night on Earth by BS and Trusty Chords by Hot Water Music are right. Both those songs are good, but this song kicks ass like not many others do. |

hells ya, this song puts me in a maniacal fit of anger for no reason at all...... its a really powerful song. I agree with the people who think its about being a loner, and that the red represents anger, and when they pick on you (they say freak, when you're singled out) then that anger comes out (the red, it filters thru). |
