Asheru – Boondocks Theme Song Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The song embodies the spirit of the African American journey. It's struggles, triumphs and promise. It exemplifies McGruder's message vividly. Was this song written for the show or selected? I am the stone that builder refused - As a few have said, its from the bible. The stone the builder refused would be the African race in reference to the unfair treatment of blacks throughout history. but they will be made the cornerstone. Hip Hop, sports, entertainment.. see how that works? I am the visual - Through what you see, I represent all that was. The inspiration That made lady sing the blues - Billy Holiday, one of the triumphs.. yet one of the tragedies. I'm the spark that makes your idea bright - The innovation, music, sports, entertainment..again. the progression, the advancement The same spark that lights the dark So that you can know your left from your right - to know your left from your right is to have sense, common sense. Evolved into enlightenment. Lighting the dark. I am the ballot in your box The bullet in your gun - Malcom X. The point is to make a choice. Both actions bring upon change. The inner glow that lets you know To call your brother son - The inner glow is the bond between all African Americans, due to the shared struggle. Son is a common slang term used in urban communities. Its a term of endearment of sorts but also fits into the innovation. It catches on. The story that just begun - Exactly what it means. People's grandparent's grandparents were slaves. This story has JUST begun. The promise of what's to come - The new generation. The boys represented in The Boondocks. And I'm 'a remain a soldier till the war is won - This fight isn't over, there is still a lot of f'd up SH!t going on still. I won't forget. I will see this through. Just my thoughts. |
Pearl Jam – Army Reserve Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This is 100% correct. I saw them 3 years ago when this toured for this album and Eddie spoke at length about it. I believe it reflects more on the "husband at war" theory but the man himself said it and so it is such. |
Pearl Jam – Severed Hand Lyrics | 15 years ago |
On their Letterman appearance, Eddie says "This is a song about psychotropics". That confirms the obvious drug theory. Anyone whose tripped before understands what the "Severed Hand" feeling is. Your body feels disconnected. Like your hand is it's own entity. Its called tripping for a reason.. haha. This part: If I dont lose control Explore and not explode A preternatural other plane With the power to maintain Like a tear in all we know Once dissolved we are free to grow What is human, what is more? Ill answer this when I get home This perfectly explains the expanded knowledge one perceives when tripping. The whole key though is not losing control of yourself and remembering what you learn so you can retain it and share. |
Millencolin – Done Is Done Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I heard this song on the NHL 09 soundtrack so I'm not familiar with the band or their lyrics. I do believe the lyrics here are incorrect. Here is what I hear: You dont know what youre looking for Youre lost in the past You dont know who you are anymore How long will it last? Well, it will last as long as youre gone In the future or past. Theres a crusher ahead Makeup your mind real fast. If it was yesterday I would let you go Are you happy if the answers no? then its suddenly time to make it so, yeah... Whats done is done You need to set your ways And that is you You in your future days mistakes and slips are made by everyone So, please, accept Whats done is done You dont know where you are any more Just know where youve been It doesnt matter how it all was before Let the present begin Big decision for a man in the daze To leave the haze, yeah... Movement is a sign of life, keep moving forward, life There is no going back from here in spite of all your fight Theres no point in blaming yourself for the wrongs youve done The game that is really numb, no need to be on the run So, please, accept Whats done is done Whats done is done Whats done is done I could be wrong as there is definitely an accent within the singing . I think that while the meaning is obvious, it stretches a little deeper. The person is beating themselves up until they are powerless to move forward at all. The "daze" could be interpreted as drugs or just as the cloudiness of vision that comes with feeling overwhelmed by the troubles of life. Either way, its a positive song which speaks many truths. Keep moving forward, don't dwell on the past which you cant' control. We all fuck up, accept that and lets keep moving. |
Pink Floyd – Us and Them Lyrics | 18 years ago |
People, this song was written by Rick Wright. The Keyboard player. Yes we all know about Rogers' inclination to write about specific topics but this song isn't one of them. Obviously about war, it's also about the line between Us & Them. Realistically speaking, unless you are born into it, it's close to imposssible to move from one side to the other. Us are the ones who die in the front line, while Them are the generals who cry forward from the rear. |
Coldplay – Swallowed in the Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love the album and the general tone of the disc but this song has some of the most elementary lyrics I've ever heard in a song. It's rather boring. |
System of a Down – Sad Statue Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I believe this song is about the president using 9/11 as a reason to go to war with Iraq and how the majority of the youth of this country doesn't agree with it. "Permanece evolving in the absolute" is clearly referring to how the war single handidly won bush a 2nd term in office. After all, does anyone truly believe that the war was justified by 9/11 now? |
David Lee Roth – Just A Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song will be my epitaph. |
Ray Charles – Georgia On My Mind Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Ray you will be missed. I first heard this song on Quantum Leap and ever since it has been one of my top 20. A legendary composition by a legendary composer. |
Alice in Chains – Love, Hate, Love Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Man this song is about sooooo much more than that. Read it again. Feel his anquish. This song is about the suffering the author is going through in general and how this person he is with is his only salvation but at the same time the only thing that stops him from giving into his greatest evils. He loves and wants to love but feels as if life has no meaning so it creates a downward spiral of emotional and concious breakdown. "Innocence creates my hell' is both a reference to her innocence but also is full of melancholy towards the innocence that he used to posses which she draws out of him. Once again causing him to try to 'feel' human again instead of just giving into the beast. |
Mad Season – Long Gone Day Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"See you all from time to time Isn't it so strange How far away we all are now Am I the only one who remembers that summer Oh, I remember Everyday each time the place was saved The music that we made The wind has carried all of that away " Man, these words strike right to the core of anyone who has gone to college and had strong friendships there. This song is completely about regret and how fate just isnt fair sometimes. We all know of Layne's problems with heroin which ultimately led to his demise. The art which was created from his torment is of a caliber which will be hard to match but surely will be imitated. I have kept this song at the forefront of my mind and I find myself referring to it any time these familiar emotions are stirred. Truly a classic and definitely one of the best songs yet composed. |
