The Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin Lyrics 21 years ago
Not a big deal, but; these lyrics ain't exactly right. First, in the first stanza he says "The beauty <.I'd> always missed" not "I've". Second, in the refrain, "And I love you, yes I love you.. he says"Oh, how I love you." which places infinitely more meaning to his feelings of love. The refrain explains his feelings and perceptions about his life as it is presently (stated in the stanzas). Nights in white satin "never ending" is laying awake in bed not being able to stop thinking about your lover. Unsent letters are a result of not being able to put your thoughts in order and express what your feeling, though trying many times; none seem to convey your heart. Suddenly seeing previously unseen beauty is a clear sign of love entering your life as well as not knowing the truth anymore because your world is upside down. etc. etc. The poem at the end is his worldly perception before enduring another Night in White Satin. Actually a VERY good love song that is right on the mark!!

Supertramp – The Logical Song Lyrics 21 years ago
I think all of the above is on the right track. But the refrain is really deep. All of us, in the quiet hours; mull over deep questions and wonder about life and love and who we REALLY are. He asks please tell me what "we've" learned, not what "you've" learned. Meaning what, as a race; have we learned so far and how does it relate to the individual. In other words, how do I fit in in this kalidescope we call life? I think the refference to singing something is refering to polls or surveys and the way they're worded sometimes is very condencinding to the average person and going along with some stupid idea without thinking about it makes you a mental vegetable?

The man with lonley eyes is none other than Jesus. Look at any pictures of him(I KNOW it's not him) but that's the way He's depicted in all renditions. Very good song!

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 21 years ago
People, people, you're thinking to small and digging to deep. The Lady whom is buying a stairway to heaven is no other than The United States of America. Particularly the Church (in all of its varied denominations) in the civilized world. Look at it in that light and go from there. Oh, by the way, I have an ORIGINAL copy of this album from the early 70s and the lyrics of this tune are written in the inside cover. "In a tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings sometimes" is one line "All of our thoughts are misgiven" is the next line. Think about it! I know how it's worded in the song ( probably for word flow value) but the written poem is the source document here. The "tree by the brook" is the cross, the brook is the Rivers of living water Christ spoke of, the "songbird" is the Gospel, the "piper" is Jesus, Looking "to the west" is looking at lifes end, "crying for leaving" is yearning for Heaven, Two paths, those who stand looking, etc is self explanitory. "Our shadow's taller than our soul" tells you, us, that your, our actions words and deeds have a great influance on where we spend eternity. The Lady "who shines white light and wants to show how everything still turns to gold" is the true church, Christs' Bride. Like it or not there is a lot of spirituality in LZs music. After all, their 5th album is called "Houses of The Holy" .....................Don't make it harder than it is.

Yo, Ar3s; I know. That's why I said I was thinking that was the lyric and that it would be a good line for some other song. No biggie, misunderstanding. In the lyrics shown above the second refrain of "Oh, Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light" is incorrect. If you listen to the song she actually says "Oh dance in the dark of night, LISTEN to the morning light". Since light makes no sound what might she be refering to? Think about this one "The Queen of light took her bow...." To be "The Queen of light took her BOUGH..."

Frank N Furter, have you actually listened to DSoTM while watching WoO with no sound(start DsoTM @ the second roar of MGM Lion)? The sync. is undeniable and uncanny. Scenes and tracs change at the same time(if you get the timing right) flawlessly AND the themes are compatible. For instance. when Dorathy is balancing on the barnyard fence "balanced on the biggest wave" is coming out of the speakers. there is a lot more. I'm not saying it is intentional just uncanny.

Pink Floyd – Eclipse Lyrics 21 years ago
The last two lines are key to this tune for sure. I think "...in tune." is talking about all of creation and although chaotic at times it really is in tune, especially where man hasn't mucked it up. "...eclipsed by the moon" is a refference to something infinatly small blocking out the big picture, so to speak. An allegory to distant Heaven and present Earth and how a small thing can COMPLETLY block out and make dark our vision of who we are and where we're going.

Hello, new here. stumbled on this site looking for lyrics to this song. I was thinking the line was "No comfort heirs defy the night but light the face of holes" Good line for some other song though!

This song(to me) is one of the best songs of all time. It' beautifully written and played and very pleasing to listen to but spiritually and intelectually challenging. The title refers to the ongoing battle btwn G & E not the end battle. There is only one "Prince of Peace" and it ain't Frodo. "..embraced the gloom.." is when He accepted the cup the Father had given Him that no other could ".. and walked the night alone." I would hesitate to assign the depths of this work to any one source. I think many sources from many ages were called upon to paint the mental picture this song calls up.
The lines that Sandy Denny(Dennis?) sing are an answer to the main lyrics. "Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light" is repeated many times as encouragement to those engauged in battle. To dance in the dark of night takes faith. That's where we are right now, in the dark of night. Sing to the morning light is another ref. to Jesus. He is the "Bright and morning star" NOT lucifer. He is the dragon. (Reguardless of what he or others call him)
More later.
