Heather Nova – It's Only Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
How has no one commented on this song? I heard it on buffy and downloaded it. I love it: "Tell me, is devotion a gift or a thief? Do you wish I'd let go?" Stunning. |
Matchbox Twenty – Kody Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think that this guy Kody killed himself at the avenue. He was obviously a good friend, who would let himself in through the back gate. After Kody's death, Rob had trouble sleeping, lying awake listening for the gate, the silence being a painful reminder of his loss. Friends and family probably advised him to go to the avenue, to get some kind of closure but he didn't know if he could. Don't get down much to the avenue I could drive but it takes so much to get there It's an amazing song. My favourite line is I've seen a lot of good things die and I'm in an over emotional way I think everyone has felt that way before |
Matchbox Twenty – Busted Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think it's about people who sleep together. He's got this thing going on with this girl where there's a purely physical attraction and things tend to happen when they're together. But that's it. I don't need you crowding up my space I just want to get inside you A part of him wants to be with her for real: Oh, how I want you to know me Oh, how I wish I was somebody else, baby Oh, how I wish you could own me But ultimately he's not ready for that kind of commitment. I am the flame, I can't get burned. He's reminding her that it's just sex, nothing more. |
Lifehouse – Simon Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I'm not going with the bible theory but I figure that if that's what makes it special to you then stick with it. For me the song is about the whole high school experience. It sums up perfectly the way the so-called in-crowd that believe their social status is gained on how many people they can put down. It also shows how through being picked on you get stronger: "Refuse to feel anything at all Refuse to slip, refuse to fall Can't be weak, can't stand still Watch your back, 'cos no one will" |

It's amazing! "No sweeping exits or offstage lines could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind" This line is very real because sometimes no matter how much someone hurts you, you don't always retaliate if you care about them. I also like the line " let's do some living after we die". It's an ironic line which to me shows the fact that we always put things off and before we know it it could be too late. |
Sarah McLachlan – Ice Cream Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Ok, I have an unusual interpretation of this song. I did 2 weeks work experience at a first school a couple of years ago when I bought this album ( fumbling towards ecstasy ) and I had this song in my head on my last day there. I'm not a huge "kid-person" but I was really moved by all of the pictures I recieved from all of these 5 yr olds saying how much they loved me and were going to miss me. This song reflects the childish innocence of comparing feelings to treats such as chocolate and ice-cream and reflects how I was reminded that it really is a "long way down to the place where we started from", meaning that few people can recapture the innocence of being a child once they've lost it. |
Sarah McLachlan – Angel Lyrics | 21 years ago |
A couple of weeks ago I found out that the actor Glenn Quinn had died from a drug overdose. This affected me more than I ever thought possible-how can you grieve the death of someone you never even knew? But anyway, it hurt, and the only song that flew into my head was this one. The music, the lyrics are beautifully haunting and appropriate, as he really did "escape one last time." And I hope he has found comfort x |
Kim Ferron – Nothing But You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Love it! It sounds to me like she's broken up with someone and she's trying to get over it at the beginning by letting herself cry but then she's also saying he hasn't really hurt her and she's trying to distract herself by going out and driving, having a joint by way of escapism. My favourite line is "No, I guess I never thought you were good for me anyway". It sounds like she's really trying hard to convince herself that she's better off without him. |

Sarah McLachlan – Full Of Grace Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is probably my favourite song ever. I first heard it on Buffy as well and bought the CD the next day. It's beautiful. I agree with "miss mo" that it's about someone who's experiencing depression which they have to deal with on their own and they have to leave because they've "stayed too long" already and they're only hurting each other. I personally feel that despite being an incredibly depressing song, it's lined with hope. The fact that she knows she could love them more or better suggests she's willing to try but needs to sort herself out first. For the record, I want this song played at my funeral. |
