The White Stripes – Little Room Lyrics 22 years ago
Strange, i absolutely adore this song. It sounds so...raw ? But then, isn't that all of their stuff though ? Perhaps my love of this song stems from the first time i heard it - roaring across the blue mountains at christmas during the massive sydney bushfires of 2001, with flames licking at the side of the car and blackened firefighters running desperatly everywhere. Anyway, thats enough rambling for now. I maintain, it is an awesome song.

The White Stripes – I Think I Smell A Rat Lyrics 22 years ago
I think these are some of the worst lyrics i have ever read, and although they seem to follow a general theme, about kids mucking up, i still think that the last stanza is shocking; "treating your mother and father like a welcome mat" sounds just like struggled ryming, thats all.

U2 – Sunday Bloody Sunday Lyrics 22 years ago
Yeah, simple, it's about the bloody sunday massacre that occured in northern ireland. To protest you needed permission from the government, and one sunday something like 10,000 people went on a march for civil rights and the Para's opened fire and killed 13. The song is basically a narrative from the singers perspective, detailing his reactions to the massacre.

Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning Lyrics 22 years ago
Yeah.
"The time has come
a fact's a fact
it belongs to them
let's give it back"
Gives away Peter Garret's meaning here...
But perhaps he should lead by example ? lol

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Rascal King Lyrics 22 years ago
This is about the mayor of a major american city, not sure of it was new york or boston, who was put in gaol while still serving as mayor, and apparantly still served out his term...from behind bars

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Impression That I Get Lyrics 22 years ago
It's a situation song, about somebody an uncle of one of the band members, but the lyrics are soo damn good that they apply to all of us, i guess. I love the bit "I'm not a coward, I've just never been tested I'd like to think that if I was, I would pass"
But i am too stupid to figure out the line after that, if anybody has any ideas please post them here...

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – Royal Oil Lyrics 22 years ago
Could be, but it may be something a bit differant... When it gets introduced on 'live at the middle east' he says 'This one goes out to the people who have supported the bosstones for all these fucking years' But microwaveburrito, i still reckon you are right.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – Never Mind Me Lyrics 22 years ago
Ah, i know this one ! It's straightforward enough. Dicky was robbed by a bum with a gun. He was pissed off because even if the guy didn't have a revolver he would have still given him his wallet.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – 1-2-8 Lyrics 22 years ago
This is an awesome song, and me being a cook and all...
It really had me thinking as to what this was about, but i eventually did find out from Dicky (the singer/lyricist) himself. The BossToneS were once described as a 'stew of people, differant guys with differant backgrounds all chucked together in a pot, and coming out as a band. The 'north east south west north etc etc" bit is about constantly touring (the bosstones are a full time professional band) And the best part of the song is about the whingers in the music industry, who hate gigging and so forth, which is a major gripe the band has with other groups out there; "If you can't stand the heat in the kitchen, get out it will increase" Means: STOP WHINGING !

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – Noise Brigade Lyrics 22 years ago
I've got a funny fealing that this one is about the Bosstones in general, perhaps about Dicky Barret himself. "Especially the Unequipped with a skill But I'm thrilled with the thrill Underskilled, unprepared Hey, who wouldn't be scared" May be about dickys lack of singing talent in general, and some aprehension towards gigging ?
