i totally agree with the people who said it's possible it's a friend's funeral he's talking about. i know when i lost a good friend it felt as if i lost my childhood too because death of a friend is something adults are supposed to go through, not children. so it makes you feel like you have to grow up really fast, so that all makes sense. but if it is about a friend's funeral how does the verse "My secret is fatally gorgeous I'd die for you But in this Bonnie and Clyde kind of romance tell me what would you do? My secret is fatally gorgeous I'd die for you But when your precious life is at stake tell me would you die for me too?" fit in to the picture? that sounds like a real boy/girl type of relationship, not a best friend type of relationship |

| i think this song is less about an actual relationship and more about a friends with benefits sort of situation. to me this song screams “I like you more than you like me.” a lot of us have been there before, you start as “just friends” you start sleeping together, and someone falls for the other and all the “other” wants is a sexual relationship. I also believe that’s where the line “I know I’m alone if I’m with or without you” comes from, because even when she’s “with” that person she’s not truly with him the way she wants to be so either way she’s alone [physically, mentally, or emotionally.] I think the lines, “I don't blame you/I do the same thing/I get lonely too” also screams “friends with benefits” because it’s like she’s saying as much as I want to be with you, more than sexually, I don’t blame you for going out and looking for sex because I get lonely and I do it as well. or maybe I’m off all together and just trying to make this song more like the situation I’m in then it really is. | |

i dont know how any of you can say there aren't any metaphors at work here. almost every blood brothers song ever recorded works off metaphors. why would/should this be any different? i think this song is about a "slut" not a prostitute (slut suggesting she doesn't get paid for sex, just enjoys it.) i think the rats represent her sexual wants and desires and any other bad she may process and in the end, it kills her. (see: "ohhh-nooo we need a vacancy.") |

| Most (people) see this song as about an ex lover. I however see it in a different light, The boy I love was just sent to Kuwait and he's on my mind all the time (wouldn't the guy you love always been on yours?) and when i hear this song I think of him and how he's all i think about and how much I love him and how we just started as friends and how "I didn't mean for this to go as far as it did and I didn't mean to get so close" but we fell in love. Now no one knows for how long he'll be gone and I'm not sure what holidays and other things will be like with out him and it hurts to think that maybe he'll never return and that we only want one more day with each other because he left with out a formal goodbye. It hurts to thinkwe never meant to fall in love and if we didn't this heartache wouldn't be going on (and that is not meant to sound curel because i do love him and i'm happy i found him but sometimes the pain and uncertainty of it all is too much)...but it is. | |
