Del Amitri – Nothing Ever Happens Lyrics 20 years ago
The song is pretty self-explanatory, really. He is saying that everything we are so afraid of, everything we hold so dear, is meaningless, because a new day will signal the end to the crises of the present. Nothing matters in life, because, well, life resets itself at midnight. Sad, but true...

Evanescence – Everybody's Fool Lyrics 21 years ago
I think its basically just raw, aggressive emotion being freed.

"Look here she comes now. Bow down and stare in wonder. Oh how we love you."

You can just hear the frustration, jealousy, anger and spite in those words. Its like Amy is just telling the girl everything that she despises about her. Its the dream of every "outsider" to tell a "popular" girl something like this, and I know this song will become an anthem for freedom for the repressed.

Billy Joel – Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) Lyrics 21 years ago
In my opinion, every artist writes their "great love song," so to speak. Elton John had Tiny Dancer, CCR had Suzie Q, Clapton had Layla. For Billy Joel, it was either this gem of a song, or his classic You're My Home. Both songs are full of emotion and love, which display the devotion that Billy always puts into his music.

Billy Joel – Leningrad Lyrics 21 years ago
I think there is alot to what suckmykiss said, but I think there's an additional element. Billy refers to his life back in the US, being a "cold war kid in McCarthy time," and its similarities to Viktor's life in the Russia of Lenin, Stalin and Gorbachev. While the song is an acknowledgement of respect for a fan, it also tells the fan "hey, I can definitely sympathize with you. stay strong, brother."

Pink Floyd – Run Like Hell Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song has a definite reference to Nazi Germany. In the movie, during Comfortably Numb, Pink has a transformation in a hotel room from rock star to power-crazed fascist dictator. The doctor gives him a shot, presumably heroin, and on the way to the concert, he is seen ripping off a shell of skin. When he rips off the final piece, he is wearing a black military uniform and a stern look on his face.

In the Flesh then brings the story to a climax, with Pink's statement of who he is (Pink's not well, he's at the hotel, they sent us as a surrogate band...are there any queers in the audience? Put 'em up against the wall!)

Run Like Hell is just like In the Flesh, except on a larger scale. The movie makes a Kristalnacht reference, with people running and being knocked down and beaten.
