Rufus Wainwright – Little Sister Lyrics

mandaffeine made a lot of sense....a lot of the lines in this song are geared towards the inequalities towards women, like
"ave, ave, history is on my side,"
referring that throughout history, men have had the upper hand
or "you may have to use your hips as fodder,"
referring to the fact that most female performers use sexual appeal to gain popularity.
it's a very clever reference to the age-old gender inequalities. |

Patrick Park – Something Pretty Lyrics

i agree that the song is about someone's crappy life, but i don't think he's looking for a person, necessarily. the lines, "at the most i'm a glare / i'm the hopeless son that's hardly there / i'm the open sign that's always busted / i'm the friend you need, but can't be trusted," makes it sound like his life is crappy because he makes it that way himself. by never being there, being too harsh and defensive ("at the most, i'm a glare"), and untrustworthy, he's made his life empty and boring, and he needs to see something good (something pretty) to help him be less harsh and depressing. |

Mae – Ready And Waiting To Fall Lyrics

this song is absolutely perfect, the ideal description about how i feel about the person i love. every time i listen to it, i feel so happy...it's so true.
"it's never been more perfect being alive.
i've never been so satisfied." |

Metric – Love Is a Place Lyrics

the imagery is clearly saying that she's cleaned out (spring in the air, sweeping the streets) her past not-so-great life, and now that he's there (the sun becomes her, he agrees) she's happy, she's bright, she's in love. the happiness of love (the blue skies) are holding up her face, making her brilliantly happy.
good song. |

Copeland – Testing The Strong Ones Lyrics

no, this song is about his cat, who got run over by a semi last year, and his grandmother, who drowned in a puddle, and his girlfriend, who slit her wrists with a butter knife.
honestly, i don't think it matters to find out why the artist wrote the song...i think it's more important to find out what the song itself is about. this song has always meant (at least to me) that you need to realize that God tests you...and when you make it through, you realize that you have the best reward ever: heaven. :) |

Disney – I Won't Say (I'm in Love) (Hercules) Lyrics

this song is me right now. i went through a terrible relationship and only recently just got over it, even though it's been maybe six or seven months. now i'm on the brink of a new one, and i just don't want to say i'm in love for fear of getting hurt again. i walk on eggshells all the time.
funny how a disney song describes your emotions so well. |
