Los Lobos – Guantanamera Lyrics | 7 years ago |
So these aren't the lyrics for Los Lobos' Guantanamera. As far as I can tell Guantanamera is a Cuban patriotic song about the love of Cuba and there are many covers with altered lyrics to express that love. I just started typing the Spanish lyrics into Google as best as I could hear them and found a single link at the DrLyrics website that has the proper Los Lobos lyrics. Here they are. Maybe I'll look into getting the lyrics above corrected.
The Rumble Strips – Girls And Boys In Love Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Hey guys. It's me, from the future (2016). Just letting you know this song still makes me want to dance a decade later. |
Bob Dylan – Tangled Up in Blue Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Not sure if this is right. Petarch was born in 1304 and died in 1374. That's the 14th century. The lyrics state the book of poems was from the 13th century (1200-1299). He could be referring to works by Dante Alighieri as he was Italian and born in 1265. I thought it may have been referencing The Divine Comedy, but he wrote that between 1308-1321. Another explanation could be that Dylan was either misinformed or he thought the word "thirteenth" sounded better than "twelfth" in the context of the song. |

This is a very sad and beautiful song. This is missing a verse though. I try to make out what he says, but the beginning of each line in that verse is hard to understand. |

The Jackson 5 – Who's Lovin' You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
No one has commented on this? This song is fantastic. Very blues-oriented with a great delivery by young artists. You wouldn't think someone so young could put so much emotion into a sad song. |

Linda Ronstadt – Different Drum Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is a great song. It's pretty obvious that it's about a woman who's not ready for commitment. Not just with this particular man, but with anyone or anything. She's being brutally honest to him, but at least she's being honest. |
Will Haven – Finest Our Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I remember first hearing this song back in high school. I love the gradual build up and then that moment of silence and then everything explodes. |
Aesop Rock – The Yes And The Y'all Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Also I just noticed that the line "I'm a jigsaw slab, but all the pig saw was dirtbag" might have some special meaning to Aesop. I'm not positive but I believe Aesop is part white, part black. He could be saying that he's different parts of a jigsaw puzzle put together, but he had an experience where all a cop saw was the black part of him and judged him unfairly. |
Elvis Costello – I Want You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If you've ever been cheated on by someone that you care about, this song will hit you like a freight train. Before looking up any of the facts, I knew Costello must have been cheated on by someone he cared about immensely. You can't write a song like this without experiencing it. It's just so real. So accurate. Everything is going great, like at the beginning of the song and then the truth comes out and you're left wondering "Wow, did you just forget to mention it?" Then, although your logical side tells you to not hurt yourself with the details, some other part of you wants nothing more than to hear each and every horrible detail. You want to know if she liked it. You want to know if he did the things you do to her. Then there's this overpowering feeling of wanting her. Of wanting to be with her......to reclaim what is yours? It's a strange and mixed emotion that is hard to explain, like so many other human emotions. And forgiving her.....the hardest thing you'll ever do. Because you will never entirely forgive her. No matter how much time passes and how faded the memory becomes, every once in a while it will creep back up like a disease and hurt you all over again. From time to time a musician takes complicated emotions and encapsulates them in their entirety into a song. Costello took the fear, jealousy, hatred, depression, helplessness, sadness, and anger of being cheated on and did exactly that with this song. |
The Cult – Sweet Soul Sister Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just heard this on the radio. Awesome song. Hard rock with a touch of blues in it. I like it. Great guitar work. |
Aesop Rock – The Yes And The Y'all Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't know what it means, but I'm pretty sure in the first verse it says "Or Baron Munchausen's proud gimps to clinch this chemical war pig" I keep listening to it over and over again and I just keep hearing Baron Munchausen, not "call barren moon childs". It's entirely possible seeing as how Baron Munchausen is an actual historical figure who lived in the 1700s. And he was a general, which makes the "war pig" part make more sense. |
Aesop Rock – Boombox Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm sorry, I just can't help it. The line should say "Dead before the chubby debutant conquered the high note" A debutant is someone who makes a debut into a professional career before the public. The lyric "decry ton" makes absolutely no sense. I wouldn't be surprised if people are just copying the inaccurate lyrics from other sites onto this site. |
Aesop Rock – Boombox Lyrics | 17 years ago |
There's a lot of errors in the Aesop Rock lyrics on this site. I'm not trying to be critical, it's just that the little errors either give different meaning to a lyric or strip it of its meaning altogether. On that note, I'm pretty sure the line goes "For the room 1-0-1 detour" The line above it mentions Orson Wells' novel 1984, and in that book the main character is sent to room 101 to confront his greatest fear. So "1 on 1 z-tour" doesn't make any sense. |
Aesop Rock – Battery Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's "I'm not trying to graduate to life with a personalized barstool" Seems like there's a lot of little errors in the Aesop Rock lyrics on this site. Regardless, this song freaking rules. The intro line is great. "YO, change the fuckin channel" |
Pink Floyd – Mother Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song has torn me to pieces since I was a little kid. It's the relationship I have with my mother. She helped to build a "wall" and it's messed me up, but at the same time she's protected me. I'm not a mama's boy by any means, but.....it's hard to explain. Some of you will get it, some of you won't. |
Alice in Chains – Love, Hate, Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't come closer to becoming a serial killer who targets lying, cheating, backstabbing, hurtful women than when I'm listening to this song. It's just such a raw and powerful song, culminating in just two words wrenched from the bottom of his gut: love, hate. |
Atmosphere – Fear Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I couldn't find this song anywhere. I finally typed some of the lyrics into google and the results showed this song as being titled "Step By Step" not "Fear". |
Guns N' Roses – The Garden Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I was driving through San Francisco last week and I saw a strip club amongst all the strip clubs on Broadway that was named "The Garden Of Eden". It made me think about this song. This song could be about a whore house. But I think that it is more likely to be about love or sex and how they can become a trap. Feel her flowers as they wrap around But only smart boys do without I think that line is important. It's describing something that feels good, but if you're smart, you do without it. I'm thinking it's either love or sex. You know you're all alone You're friends, they aren't at home Everybody's gone to the garden To me, it sounds like his friends are all in love and he is not. Now, this could just be the fact that currently, all my friends are in love, and I am not, but I don't think that's it. He also mentions losing his virginity in the "garden". I'm thinking that the garden is probably an analogy for love. |
Santana – Open Invitation Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I kinda dig some Santana songs, but I love this one. Don't know why, it just rocks. It's obviously about sex. Mindless, unattached sex. You be you and let me be me No strings attached emotionally I wanna get a little crazy That's puttin' it plain You got the medicine and I got the pain He's basically saying "hey, let's do it, just to have some fun and relieve some stress". He puts it pretty bluntly too. That's one of the reasons I like this song so much. It's just so blunt. |
Harry Nilsson – Without You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Pretty intense song about breaking up with someone. I think he does a good job of expressing the extreme sadness and despair in the chorus when he belts out "I can't live, I can't give anymore". This song was used PERFECTLY in the suicide scene from the movie "Rules Of Attraction". |
David Bowie – My Death Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Two words describe this song: Poetic Beauty. I wasn't a very big Bowie fan, then one day I was flipping through the channels and caught "Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" on AMC right as Bowie began this song, and I was stunned. It's an endlessly beautiful song, and Bowie delivers it perfectly. The song is originally by a guy named Jacques Brel, who I believe was French, so Bowie was the first to do an English version of this song. I believe the song is about someone who is contemplating their own death as they see it nearing, but they don't want to accept it. I think the most beautiful lines are... My death waits there in a double bed Sails of oblivion at my head So pull up the sheets against the passing time He sees himself dying of old age in a bed. He sees death as oblivion, because he doesn't know what will happen to him once he dies. Chances are he doesn't believe in heaven or hell. And he sees oblivion in the form of ships coming for him. Then he says he'll pull up the sheets to protect himself against the passing time, and the passing time equals inevitable death. This is much like a child pulling up the sheets to protect themself from monsters. When Bowie played this song live, during the last chorus he would sing... But whatever lies behind the door There is nothing much to do Angel or Devil, I don't care For in front of that door, there is... And then he would stop singing and people in the crowd would shout "ME". This is one of the most beautifully sad songs I have ever heard. |
Guns N' Roses – Yesterdays Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Don't fret over the past, move on. Forget about yesterday and look to tomorrow. "When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." -Hellen Keller Don't let worrying about the past destroy your future. |
Judas Priest – Beyond The Realms Of Death Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Beautiful song. One of Priest's best. This song is about a person who is tired of life and the world around him. He goes in to a sort of coma "Withdrawn he'd sit there, stare blank into space, no sign of life would flicker on his face". No one can reach him, no one can save him, he is in his own world, where he is safe. If I remember correctly, back in the 80's two kids in Reno attempted suicide and the one that lived said something about this song inspiring them to do it. I think there was even a court case involving Judas Priest. |
Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Extremely sad song. Don't listen to this song if you're suicidal. |
