I think the song has a slightly religious theme..

I dunno.. Personally, I always thought it might be about the people who sterotypes every metal band as devil worshiping crack addicts.. And I think this song is basically saying that you shouldn't believe those people and that you should think for yourself. It can also be a universal song against sterotypes, prejudice, and racism.. |

I think the second verse is about a guy begging his ex-girlfriend to take him back, or to forgive him or something, but she refuses, and the guy just can't accept it.. He wants to be frozen in that moment because it's too painful for him to accept the fact that the relationship is over.. He hopes that in time, his feelings for her will burn out, so it wouldn't hurt as much as he does now.. |

I think the part about the needle is suppose to convey a feeling of helplessness. Pretend you're strapped in a chair and someone is about to stick a needle into your eyes, all you can do is squirm and watch, helplessly.. I think that line sets the tone for the whole song.. |

I think its about the band being on tour and the singer being away from his girlfriend or wife.. Look at the whole second verse.. "A beating heart and a microphone" is probably how he feels while he's on stage.. "a ticking clock in an empty home" probably means that his house is empty why he's on tour. " After everything he's experienced with the band, the singer probably feels like he's still just beginning his journey and that he still has a long road ahead of him. "each and everyday it leads into tomorrow

Basically their trying to comfort these people and tell them they'll all be okay and that they shouldn't let the stress and frustration get to them.. |

But he ends up finding some CDs that he really really really likes.. The rest of the song is about them getting together and putting their CD collections together..
