So Great, I love the jam thats preceded by the long tabla solo. I also love the bass when maynard is saying: "Put me somewhere I dont wanna be." Is an excellently revised version of the original pushit. I cant wait for their live dvd to come out! |

I didnt like the song at first because i was a fan of Tool's new stuff before i discoverd the old. But i gave it a fair chance and now i think its great. I cant really relate to the astral projection interpretation because i dont really understand that whole thing well enough. Im not to sure about the drug interpretation either, Tool seems to often go deeper than just drugs. |

This one time i was listening to this song at high volume and i was very rapped up in it. I began thinking about the peak moments of my life so far and how much better my life could be. I thought about how to go up in life and then decided that the basic watered down meaning of Lateralus is "Go higher." Anyway the song was closing in on its climax and i was on one of my highest natural highs ever.Then suddenly, evil struck, my mother burst into my room and started yelling at me to turn it off, so i turned it down, but then she yelled even more and talked to me obscenities that rivaled the volume of the music. I suddenly felt an extreme swell of anger towards the one who had interupted my zen and forgot completely that she was my kin. So a raced towards her at incredible speeds and hurled myself through her stomach in a SPIRALING motion. I then realized what I had done and was forced to use my last ounce of time control power that i had been saving up to turn back time and delete the incident. I warn you all that the next time I am interupted in this way i will not be able to undo the damage that I unleash upon the pitiful person that disturbes me during the nineth track of my favorite album. |

You guys have pretty much covered the meaning of the song although i havent read all of the entries. I would like to point out that this song came out in the early ninetys and it still sounds it belongs now in this decade. Tool really set the example for all those rock bands out their right now but it seems similar bands have trouble being half as good as Tool. |

First of all i think that Limp Bizkit is a group of talented musicians sitting behind a shallow dumbass. (Fred Durst) I look up to Wes for leaving Limp Bizkit because he will probabley never again get publicity. The only reason Limp Bizkit ever got popular is because there are too many catch phrase music listeners out there that cannot think below the surface. There are also more talented musicians out there than the ones in Limb Bizkit. So my advice to you Bizkit listeners is to branch out beyond this lame music. I liked this stuff when i was 12 come on. Discover music with deep meaning. Stuff that can make an impact on your life. Those of you without suffiecient brain compacity should not attempt this because you will fail and your head will implode as a side-effect. |

This song scared me before i read your reviews talking about the phone call and stuff but now i dont think ill ever listen to it again unless its a bright, sunny friday afternoon. I have a friend who i long recommended this cd to(and who now loves it as much as i do by the way) who for a little while would not listen to Triad because he wasnt familiar with the cd and didnt want to accidently get some Faaip De Oiad action. The final track is good at bringing you back to reality after listening to that mind building experiance that is the preceding twelve tracks. |

Maynard James Keenan Production = Multiple Meanings. I will now state what I get out of this song. In my opinion, this is one of the most thoughtfull and complex love songs ever written. I take it to be about two formally close lovers who have grown apart. The talking lover(Maynard) saw it falling apart (cause i watched fall away). The constant use of the word communication makes sense because lack of communication is always detrimental to a relationship. "The light that fueled our fire then, has burned a hole between us so": simply amazing lyrics. The lovers were very close at the begining, too close. That is why they have arrived at this problem. "Doomed to crumble unless we grow and strengthen our communication.": The lovers must be mature, make amends, and take the relationship to the next level or they will separate. (Schism)

This song is pretty straight-forward for a Maynard-involved song. I love the way the violin is used. Its very conservative but when Paz just lets loose in the chorus it becomes a very powerful backing for Maynard's powerful voice. |

In my opinion religion started out as a good idea but has been ruined by humanity. It was a great idea. People couldent comprehend what would happen after they died so they invented life after death. Then others took it farther and farther. Now here we are in present day, taking life, taking money, constantly criticizing. Anyone who has suffiencient brain power must question their religious beliefs at some point. But its not going to hurt you to go on believing. God wont ever hurt you but his followers will. This is a great song that i think anybody can relate to, one reason Maynard is one of the best songwriters ever is because he writes most of his songs so that they can be interpreted and related to in multiple ways. I would like to share that this song and this album act as sort of my bible. Im not a religious person by the way. Maynard gives out incredible advice on life indirectly throughout this album. Lateralus teaches me more than any teacher, counselor, or bible ever did or can. Its true Maynard is not a deity, but he and every one else in Tool have made more of a provable impact on my life than any deity ever has or will. I think this song and album tell the listener to take the most that they can from life, and stop worrying about where you go after you die. Thats just a watered down explanation, some of yalls are great. |
