Rufus Wainwright – Instant Pleasure Lyrics 21 years ago
To me this song is all about how one just can't be passive and expect love to fall into your lap. You have to do something to make it happen, "...If drinkin coffee is your idea of really cool you can't expect no crazy chick to notice you ..."
This song, along with other rufus songs like Imaginary Love are my favourite they seem to impart a realistic wisdom concerning love, it lets us empathize with his life and experiences.
Almost all of his songs do this which why he could be consisdered one of the great songwriters of our time at least, if not in years and years to come.

(I couldn't belive this was on the big daddy soundtrack ... BUT IT IS the scene with jon stewart putting on the roof of his apartment.)

Jethro Tull – Thick as a Brick (Parts 1 & 2) Lyrics 21 years ago
I bought a special edition of "thick as a brick" and there is an interview with ian anderson.
He says this song is a spoof, designed to mock rock star arrogance, and artistic self-centeredness. its sheer length, and jumbled lyrics that dont seem to have anything with each other, is because they don't. Thick as a brick originally was going to originally be a normal multi-track album.
Ian anderson was annoyed by other "prog" rock musicians trying to be smart, but ultimatly falling flat on their faces looking like fools. Rick wakemen of Yes, personally comes to mind, in "the filth and the fury"the sex pistols documentary, he is seen playing a piano with a paint roller! also to accompany his concept album "Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table" he staged a fully orchestrated Musical on Ice!

So in conclusion
Lyrics = almost Meaningless in this song
length = along with the lyrics show rock arrogance
Rick Wakemen = Moron

Tull kicks ass
and so does Yes (roundabout is the best!)

Lovage – Sex (I'm A) Lyrics 21 years ago
this song initially written by Berlin (that version sucked but still had the same the meaning.) the lovage version is just more open about meaning. this song is clearly about prostitution. the womans voice is filling all these fantasy roles while the man keeps his macho image the entire song. Its more obvious in the lovage version in the interviews with the (presumably) danish prostitute.
