regardless of what you think he actually means in this song, dave is definetly not a chirstian. He does think jesus was a great man. But before he played this song once, he said "if jesus was alive today, the one thing he wouldnt be is a christian." Looking back i wasnt right about the mary Magdalene quote. I jsut looked at it wrong. But what i was saying is that Dave is not a Christian. Which is true. He is very interested in Jesus but it seems that he has little respect for Christianity" |

I dont see how it can be anything but a break up song. The girl dumped him and he is pretending that he is over her, but he can no longer deny that he still loves her. |

what does "for a reasonable FEE" mean?...and even if im worng about that one, you didnt say anything about the other one....I have listened to a lot of daves music and i have noticed much more things that would suggest that he is not a christian. but that is only what i have noticed. he mentions jesus a fair amount but usually it doesnt even make sense. here is a quote: "There's no God above, And no hell below,Oh, it's here with us, It's up to us, To keep afloat" Mother, Father- Everyday. I would be interesting to hear how you rationalize that one. I loves dave's music, but that doesnt prevent me from looking at it objectively. |

"he met another mary for a reasonable fee" - that is talking about mary magdalen(dont know how you spell it), she was a prostitute and this is obviously saying that jesus used her, i dont know of any christian religions that believe that.
And another thing "I came to shed a little light on this darkening scene, Instead I fear I spill the blood of my children all around". That couldnt be anything but a suggestion that Jesus failed. It is a complete heresy on the core of every Christian faith. I love Dave's music, but it is pretty obvious that he is no friend of Christianity. There are lyrics in many of his other songs that support this too. |
