Fiona Apple – Left Alone Lyrics | 11 years ago |
@digirati, 'orotund' is also a word (meaning "(of the voice or speech) characterized by strength, fullness, richness, and clearness"). the dictionary is a handy thing. |
The Decemberists – Billy Liar Lyrics | 12 years ago |
so, the annoying thing is that i can't correct the lyrics where it says "loss" instead of "loll" because they *are* typed correctly. i don't know why they're showing up incorrectly that way - i'm assuming something to do with the "Lyrics powered by LyricFind" bit. it must be overriding what i actually typed and pulling the words from some other database. pretty poor! |
Santigold – Disparate Youth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
yes. but...*hedging their bets. |
Clare & The Reasons – Pluton Lyrics | 14 years ago |
translation, as taken from the band website: Pluto I have some bad news I read in "Le Monde" (french very popular daily newspaper) They took away your "planet" status, from the solar system. For ever Pluton One hundred thirty four thousand three hundred and forty (134,340) Is your new name... you're not even a "dwarf planet" like Eris Just a number that's sad |
My Brightest Diamond – From The Top Of The World Lyrics | 15 years ago |
shara worden's slightly whimsical explanation for this song: "i took the idea for this song from a book by george macdonald called at the back of the north wind. in this story (i do my own version of it, you know how it is) but in this story there's a little boy named diamond who was named after his father's big black carriage horse named big diamond, and little diamond sleeps in the hayloft just above big diamond's stall in the barn. one night, the north wind comes to little diamond's window, and she blows open his shutters and says, 'hey, would you like to come along with me and go on a ride while your parents are sleeping?' and he's like 'yeah! sure! that'd be really fun! i'd like to go!' so he climbs into the back of her long flowing hair and they fly all around the world doing the job of north wind. which, for those of you who don't know what that is, the north wind lightly brushes the leaves on the bushes, and sometimes! when she's in a great big fury, she blows open the stained glass windows of the churches, and other times she gives sailors on the ocean a very rough ride." |
My Brightest Diamond – Black & Costaud Lyrics | 15 years ago |
close. it's actually based on an opera by maurice ravel wherein a small child has been causing mischief, and the furniture and objects the child was vandalizing come to life for a bit of payback. in this song, "the teapot is a mixture of a frenchman and an american boxer, so he's speaking half in french and half in english and chasing the kid around trying to punch his nose." (quote from shara worden about the song) another quote from her kind of sums up what i like about the song. "it's a little bit scary, but also kind of funny." the song is so delightfully sinister sounding for something with as ludicrous a topic as an animated teapot. |
Anathallo – Genessaret (going out over 30000 fathoms of water) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i'm sure this is illogical, but people could possibly be bringing up God influences in anathallo's music, because, well..that's what's going on? do you even own the sparrows album? how about the hymns ep? how about holiday at sea whose title was derived from a c.s. lewis quote (you know, cs lewis? renowned Christian thinker..)? not all anathallo songs are religious topically, but stop fighting the obvious. |
Brandtson – Blindspot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
pretty much the entire album that blindspot (originally) came from was about faith & struggles with it, so it's not really much of a leap to think the song might be about God. haha. i like that the person who questioned it had the username "..hopesfall.." more into new hopesfall than old, eh? that or i guess you could just totally ignore the amazing lyrics from hopesfall's old stuff. |
Rocky Votolato – Without Eyes Still Seeing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this is my favorite rocky votolato song. it's so short, but it's so good. |
Lisa Loeb – Sandalwood Lyrics | 21 years ago |
haha. this song, "how", and "falling in love" are my least favorite lisa loeb songs. not to say that those songs are bad, because i've yet to hear anything bad out of lisa loeb. :) |
