Radiohead – Street Spirit (Fade Out) Lyrics 19 years ago
All this stuff about -- it wasn't written by Yorke, but instead diffused through him by some greater power, or that it mystically wrote itself is a little presumptious don't you think. In addition all the comments about how trying it is to perform is also an eye roller.
It reeks of phish fans strung out, running their hands through their crusty hair and saying "man you don't even know, this stuff is like so above everything, man you don't even know. (At which point the declarant takes another hit of acid and forgets their name)"
At some point I think a thoughtful, but more humble explanation of a song message is more satisfying than what has been written above.
I love radiohead, but I dislike artists being overly dramatic and posing as psuedo prophets. It takes away from their credibility.

Led Zeppelin – That's the Way Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is a discussion of things that should be or we wish could be different/changed. The song addresses discrimination( I cant play with you no more), capitalism(all the fish lie in dirty water dying), the sixties movement (hippies and african americans), death (all that lives is born to die)and the helplessness that individuals feel in regards to their own efforts (nothing really matter)

Radiohead – The Bends Lyrics 21 years ago
Number 2 above is correct. Listen to his short monologue on the acoustic version that you can download on any psuedo napster and lays it out that its about knowing who your real friends are
