Alkaline Trio – Donner Party Lyrics 21 years ago
I always thought the Donner Party was an allegory for a failed relationship in this song. First verse, everything is free exciting and good. Then in winter it falls apart hence the "died quietly in the snow" and "no trace of springe" parts. The relationship is dead.

Dwarves – Lets Fuck Lyrics 21 years ago
The Dwarves are, "The Shit." This IS punk as punk gets. The rudity and crudity are meant to turn heads. Blag the Ripper and his crew take no shit and he does NOT hold back when he tells you his demands whether it be young girls or free cocaine!

Anti-Flag – Right On Lyrics 21 years ago
I read in an interview that this is all of the shit that "fans" have actually said to them. But most of them can be applied to anyone. I.E. "If you don't like America..." "Anti-Flag? That doesn't mean anti the AMERICAN FLAG..." 'cuz come on, how many of you haven't been asked that when supporting A-F? It's fun fucking with american culture.

Jawbreaker – Do You Still Hate Me? Lyrics 21 years ago
Hmm, I guess this song is so appealing because this has happened to many, many people. The whole "are we still together" schtick. I've pretty much accepted Kris Roe's "Girls are Fucking Evil" generalization cuz hey, if there's a problem, they will make sure not to let you know how to solve it. Great song.

Jawbreaker – Million Lyrics 21 years ago
I've never thought about the record company angle before. Damn, good thinking. I still see it as that "looking for a nice girl" angle myself because I like it that way. But the record company idea is really good.

Alkaline Trio – You've Got So Far To Go Lyrics 21 years ago
the "Forgot you've got so far to go" line can be interpreted two ways. It could be you, beginning a relationship that could end up lasting a very long time. Or, it could be her. She is possibly coming out of a very long relationship or something like being repeatedly heartbroken and needing time to warm up to you before falling in love. Hence, you've got so far to go.

Minor Threat – Out of Step (With the World) Lyrics 21 years ago
Pretty self-explanitory. Three short steps to healthy living and a positive attitude. How many times I've wanted to scream this at someone that asked me to get high with them or for a cigarette. Or everytime someone tells me how drunk they got at a party and had sex with someone, but didn't know too. "YOU DON'T DRINK AND FUCK RANDOM GIRLS, YOU MUST BE A FAG!" I don't know, I guess I'm just a romantic.

50 Cent – In Da Club Lyrics 21 years ago
Wow, this is some deep shit. Could rival Byron or something. I mean "You that faggot ass nigga trying to pull me back right?", just plain wow, what a way with words. "I'm into having sex, I ain't into making love" just wow, makes me want to go slap some bitch right now. This whole song makes me want to slap a bitch. In case you haven't noticed I am being facetious. Apparently this is what is "cool," shitty music with extremly misogynistic messages targeted to the youth. And what a waste of time spent in the club. Doing nothing to benefit society, only him self. The international charity of 50 cent. I saw him on eMpty TV talking about how his first album only made 5000 dollars and how he used the money to buy and sell crack. Am I supposed to feel bad for him? "Get rich or die trying," I guess this is the new American dream. Most new rap is like this, all about selfishness and greed. Why doesn't anyone listen to old school hip-hop and rap like NWA and Public Enemy. That "shit beez off da hook bitch" I guess is what it would be called today. Ignorant music for ignorant people volume one i guess. One by one forming the stereotypical black men of America. Why doesn't anyone like real music? Heres a mind trip: instead of going out and giving money to this selfish prick, why not give your money to something like John Coltrane, or Miles Davis. Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown or John Lee Hooker. Jazz and Blues are said to be the foundation for rap music and this stuff is actually good. Hell, not just good, INCREDIBLE. Hell, if you don't like jazz (you poor bastard) try classical. Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, it's all good. Anything is better than this.

The Ataris – So Long, Astoria Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't think the song is about the Goonies, rather inspired by the Goonies. I think it is about Kris' desire to make the best memories that he can. "Life is only as good as the memories we make" is one of the most incredible lines I have ever heard.
"these relics of remembrence
are just like shipwrecks
only theyre gone faster
than the smell after it rains"
Another great one. ...Gone faster than the smell after it rains is an incredible comparison to your experiences only lasting for a minimal amount of time and why everyone needs a good memory or two, or two thousand.

Rancid – Brad Logan Lyrics 21 years ago
Yes I am a poser because I stumbled across a song that I liked by a band I hadn't heard of before. What the fuck?! I can't like a song just because YOU say I can't well fuck you and your punk rock rulebook. This is one of the songs that got me into punk rock a few years ago and if you think that I am a poseur or killing your scene or whatever, just deal with it. You act like Rancid is a shitty band and you don't want anyone to hear their stuff or read the words. I'm proud to be a poseur then.

Descendents – Myage Lyrics 21 years ago
Holy hell this song sings to me. The girl I like seems to find it odd that I am falling in love with her and it seems as if she is trying to get away from me, as much as she says she isn't(but there's no reason for you to quit just cause we try harder). That is kinda how I am interpreting it as of now, which is partially incorrect. As for the song, the girl is just fucking with the guy's head. She sit's around, planning how to screw with his head because she knows he is hurting.

Relient K – Softer To Me Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm not much a fan of Christian Rock 'cuz every song seems to be about God or Jesus. I have nothing against God or JC, but it's just a little bit repetitive. I am not Christian and maybe you Christian kids like the God in every thing schtick. I think Relient K is a good band but should try writing about things besides God. Maybe that defeats the purpose of Christian rock. And another thing, Christian kids are pushy. Especially the ones that carry the bibles in school. Always asking you "If you go to church" to determine whether they will be your friend or not. When I say, "No, I'm agnostic" and if they know what the word "agnostic" means they just turn away. Am I the only one that thinks religion, Christianity especially is like a cult. Hell, it IS a cult by all standards. The youth groups, the retreats, the constant attempts to convert me. I'm sorry if I am offending any Christians but I am speaking the truth. Quit with the missionary crap. If I want to find God, I will go in search for him. Don't tell me that I am going to Hell or that you only date Christian guys, thats sad and weak/closedminded. And just because I say that the Bible is a bunch of fables and belongs in the fiction section does not mean that I think it is a bad book, the stories are quite entertaining. But seriously, am I supposed to believe that Noah can fit two of every creature onto his boat? What about the Earth being flat? Or that I am damned to hell because some prick in a garden ate some fruit a long time ago. I guess I just don't have any faith or believe in 'miracles.' What if I said that Jesus was gay? Would you be offended? Why does the bible frown on homosexuality if a child is born a homosexual? Is this God's way of playing some cruel joke on humanity. "Ok, you are a homosexual and are going to hell because you want to live your life the way that you feel is right." If you wish to criticize, discuss, or just write me hate mail for my opinions which you disagree with, feel free to email me at descendent528@hotmail.com.

Descendents – Get The Time Lyrics 21 years ago
This is one of my favorite girl songs ever. He is either in love with his friend or just madly in love with his girlfriend. I don't think that he can be around all the time, or is constantly busy hence the title, "Get the Time." It's about that girl that makes you OK. Makes you feel like you are not a total failure and there is hope for you. I love this song.

Descendents – Bikeage Lyrics 21 years ago
Pretty easy to understand. Bout a girl with emotional problems, probably from uninterested parents, who turns to drugs and prostitution for cash. The girl is quickly losing her innocence "you're an old maid, you're only 15" and he wants to save her.

Descendents – I'm Not A Punk Lyrics 21 years ago
This is like a theme for me. I have a punk friend. We eat lunch together and some Radiohead song comes on the student radio station. He goes "what the fuck is this," I say "it's Radiohead, they suck but this song is OK." He says "and you call yourself a punk." The fact is I have never proclaimed to be a punk. I love punk rock and have a hooded sweatshirt covered with band patches but do the clothes make you a punk? I hate the stupid punk rock rule book where, to be punk you must listen to punk exclusivly. And I thought punk was about going by your own rules. Punk is dead folks, get over it. Punk rock is still great though.

Descendents – Thank You Lyrics 21 years ago
A love song in two ways. The obvious one is about music. Listening to your favorite band or song and wanting to thank whoever wrote it because of the joy it brings you. The other is about a girl, only told through the metaphor or music. "Thank you for playing the way you play" could be about a girl who pushes all of your buttons in all of the right ways and makes you feel teriffic. Just listen to it and you can see it both ways.

Screeching Weasel – Nicaragua Lyrics 21 years ago
This one is for all of the people who bitch and bitch about politics and how fucked the system is, yet don't do shit. Except for the "Butt full of jizz" part this is an awesome song. Great to blare out of your car in a residential neighbor hood.

Crimpshrine – Pretty Mess Lyrics 21 years ago
Well, first of all I think the person who submitted the lyrics has part of it wrong. I think it is "Doing junk, holding hands" but, I don't have a lyric sheet so I cannot justify this. To me, this is a premiere punk rock love song. Pretty much about a guy who falls in love with a junkie drug dealer. Definatly, Mixtape worthy.

The Lawrence Arms – Quincentuple Your Money Lyrics 21 years ago
This is an amazing song. Not only is it well performed but also very well written. I keep getting the first bass line trapped within my brain. "There's a girl in this town who doesn't know I exist. There's a wounded sense of pride and a pain in my fist." I really like this line. I interpret it as a guy that is in love with this girl, but she has no idea who he is, or doesn't know how he feels about her. This leads to the wounded sense of pride and pain in his fist, possibly from punching out his reflection in the bathroom mirror. This song I think is majorly about growing up and how some of us grow up, and some just stay the same.

The Broadways – I Think That I Shall Never See... Lyrics 21 years ago
This song isn't written much like a song, more as it is an editorial exposing the truth about our world. It saddens me to think that one of these days we will have fucked it up so much that nothing will remain. Brilliant song.

In my America, Howard Zinn will be required reading instead of these history books they make us read only telling you one side. "Well, Columbus crossed the ocean blue in the year of 1492 and now there is a holiday honoring him, not to mention he was an asshole."

Lagwagon – Never Stops Lyrics 21 years ago
"Colors of democracy fly from every SUV
The misspelled bumper stickers here
Where did all the honor students go? " this is one of my favorite lines ever. Of course this song is directed at the post-9-11 United States. "Rallying one muscle under God " is also another great line. Everyone is rallying behind vengence and falling in line with the state which could indicate a downfall.

Lagwagon – Alison's Disease Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree with the idea that Allison has an abusive husband "He caught up with her.Murderous hands cripple her eyes and mind." I think that the only person that Allison killed was herself however. Walked out onto the frozen lake which can either be a metaphor or taken literally.

Alkaline Trio – Radio Lyrics 21 years ago
Matt Skiba writes some of the best I hate your fucking guts songs ever. This is one, "Jaked on Green Beers" is another. The emotion used through this song is incredible and he really despises this girl. "I wish you would take my radio to bathe with you, plugged in and ready to fall." Genius.

Alkaline Trio – Queen Of Pain Lyrics 21 years ago
This is by far one of my favorite Trio songs. Definatly one of their best written dealing with metaphors and symbolism. I guess it clicks with me 'cuz I, like many people posting on this song, know someone like the person that this song is about. I want to test her poison food.
