Tool – Third Eye Lyrics 22 years ago
"Came out to watch you play
Why are you running away?"

then

"I thought that you were hiding
And you thought that I had run away"

I just thought I'd comment on this strangely written part. It's MJK writing about himself, as two people. One him thought that the other him was hiding, and the "hiding" him thought the other was running away ("Chasing the tail of Dogma"). As small as it is, most people probably don't recognize this, but it's a beautifully written piece. Good times, good times...

Tool – Schism Lyrics 22 years ago
It's about unity, communication, and an inevitable seperation. That's all. Schism doesn't have 2 meanings, It has one, it's just mostly used reffering to "the great schism" concerning the church way back when. second best song on Lateralus

I think he means that it wa barely an album because it was 6 songs, 2 of which were just live recordings. Good stuff, doesn't really qualify as "Full Length".

Tool – Hooker with a Penis Lyrics 22 years ago
I disagree. I don't think that he's saying capitalism is the H w/ a P, He's saying that HE's the H w/ a P. He's like "You know what buddy, (I love when he says buddy!) I might have sold myself (hooker), but I'M still the one who fucking YOU!(-he's got the cock) So fuck you." That's what it is. Most definitely.

Tool – Jimmy Lyrics 22 years ago
We all know that it's about his inner child. But even more, it's about reuniting with it and dealing with an experience he had when he was 11. Something happened (read datheR's post) at that age that was very difficult and it's one of those repressed occurances that psychiatrists spend years with patients trying to bring out and get them to accept. He talks about "coming home" maybe not in a literal sense but meaning that he is coming to grasp with the events of eleven. The event left him torn and it almost seems like he's describing a therapy session.

"Moving me with a sound
Opening me within a gesture
Drawing me down and in,
Showing me where it all began,
Eleven " -Hypnosis? if so, then the rest of the song is about what he saw in that state of hypnosis. It makes sense. Read through and listen to the song with that in mind...

It's about vanity, and fashion, and all that shallow shit that everyone's so fucking infatuated with nowadays. Great song, but that shit makes me sick to my stomach.

amarquez is correct. I've always wondered how it went about. I can just see it:

"Oh my god! It's so fucken hot!" as he stares at the sun and slowly raises his arm with an offensive appendage raised and directed toward the giant ball of gas. "FUCK YOU!" Then he closes the shades and sits down with a paper&pen and starts to write about the heat.

...at least that's how I always envisioned it...

Harry Manback: I see where you get that conclusion, but I have to disagree. What about "This body holding me" what does that have to do with his son? Not to flame on your opinion, to each his own, but I think that some of those lines are a bit out of context. Anyway, In my opinion, It's about life in general. About living and being alive. Sexual experience? Maybe, that's a definite possibility, but I've always just thought of it as a song about Life. Read the lyrics with that in mind and see watchya think.

-That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
