Bad Religion – Fields of Mars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To me, this song is all about hoping for and awaiting peace in a world that seems to worship war. Humanity searches for purpose in life and too often the grand ideal we celebrate is war. We decide on an enemy send our men out to fight and the women wish them luck in their horrific, bloody, terrible "purpose". And all the while the leaders in out purpose for being are held up as rightous figures and our nations, faith, and family encourage it. Some of us look forward to the day that we will be above war, above the murder, above the "fields of mars"(fields of war). |
Dethklok – Birthday Dethday (Dethalbum Version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
RSVP = Répondez s'il-vous-plaît It means "Please respond". It's used on invitations for events to get you to confirm attendance. |
Bad Religion – Destined for Nothing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the subtle double meaning of the phrase: "Lament not your vanquished fantasy It's only destiny" It's as if it is simultaneously saying that it was inevitable that you would learn that you do not have a destiny and that it is not such a big deal to be without one. |
Bad Religion – The Grand Delusion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is about the people who cling to the "precious delusion" that humans are special, that we are not, when you get down to it, merely biological machines and their staunch resistance to the light of discovery and truth that would rip it away. |
Bad Religion – Broken Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is about feeling worthless. Felling that you don't deserve to be happy. (hence the mentions of everybody constantly putting them down, people telling him that he will never amount to anything even by his own dad, and people convincing the girl she is not worthwile by just ignoring her. "He only wanted a friend Now he's made something else It's so sad no one saw it coming The paper said that he hit the ground running" May indeed mean that he got her pregnant but it seems to me that all that need have happened was they fell in love and it scared the hell out of him. (after all he didn't believe he deserved it and would mess it up) The song ends with the realization that you aren't worthless even with your faults. |
Bad Religion – Let Them Eat War Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Further correction: There's an urgent need to feed declining crime = There's an urgent need to feed declining pride |
Bad Religion – Materialist Lyrics | 19 years ago |
KillboyPowerhead... The Materialism refered to in this song is the scientific and philisophical use of the word. The sense you are speaking of is economic. It seems quite clear to me that it is this Philisophical Materialism that Greg is speaking of (lines like "[I'm] a full out realist", "don't talk of hidden mysteries with me", and "I aint no deist" are my evidence). I personaly think the reference to Nero is simply to emphasize the line "our future's one big zero" |
Bad Religion – Into the Night Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about the choice of death (literal or not) or fighting for your chance to survive. Nothing changes if you choose to go into the night and drift away. |
Bad Religion – Let It Burn Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with Madcappunk. I also think it's about looking to a brighter future and being active in geting there and how you can't be carrying around the baggage of yesterday if you ever want to succede. "Heed the new horizon Muster to it fast The moments of your yesterdays are in the wake behind you You can't assess the future if you're living in the past " |
Bad Religion – New Leaf Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's about how things aren't how they should be now but we have to get off our asses and actualy change things because "if the future's only hoped for, we are doomed. " |
Bad Religion – The Handshake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's about false friendships and niceties built upon a contract (handshake) that can't and should't govern such things. |
Bad Religion – Recipe for Hate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's about the exportation of culture and how it causes resentment and hate while at the same time we refuse to acknowledge the fact that our culture came about not by some bloodless revealed truth, as we are wont to believe, but came from and brought bloodshed, violence, bigotry, and hate itself. |
Bad Religion – The Gray Race Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I disagree. This song is about the modern world and how our society is increasingly void of true emotion and individuality. The "Gray Race" is an allusion to the fact that we are all the same formless beings created by society. The dillema is that we use barriers to communicate (eg. computers instead of meeting in person) and we no longer value the individual or differences. |
Bad Religion – The Empire Strikes First Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is definately one of their darkest albums. I love the "Two Minutes Hate" reference. The scary thing is that with the way the governments and media are presenting things it seems almost at times like such a policy has been implemented. |
Bad Religion – Materialist Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I just love how he pronounces 'Materialist' as "Matter-Realist". Makes it alot easier to explain to someone he isn't talking about being a good consumer. Materialist: No God, Pixie, Gnome, Ghost, or Spirit will get us out of this mess. Guess we'll have to realize that we have to fix our own problems. |
Bad Religion – Beyond Electric Dreams Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I find it unlikely that Bret wrote this alone. While the obscure lyrics are very much his style the use of so many large/obscure words is not at all common for him. I agree with xvpatchvx that this song is a more emotional than political or social commentary. Though I am not sure about "Indian Buddhism". It seems to me that this song brings a sense of insignificance and even a bit of hopeless-ness. When talking about wether or not you get your morals from a godly manifectation or logical thinking it goes to say that none of it helps much. "The air is thin, the future dim, dimension hard to find " The second to last verse is (IMHO) obviously about a person's insignificance and the wonder the world inspires. (I am almost positive the "raptor" in question here is not the 3 foot tall dinosaur but the more modern kind. Say, a hawk or an eagle) The last verse is about just stepping back, wiping the slate of human expectation and start over looking for "a probity by which to abide" |
Bad Religion – Portrait of Authority Lyrics | 21 years ago |
No, Requltion. This son was written long before the war. This song is about Jesus and how all it manages to do is create an image of the way people should be that is unfeasable. |
Bad Religion – Voice of God Is Government Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is about hose creepy televangelists who care only for money and politics |
Goldfinger – Dad Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is about a kid and his dad who don't get along/see eye to eye. It really hits home. |
Bad Religion – Prove It Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is an anthem for all who have been degraded for not having proof of no diety. |
Bad Religion – Frogger Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I love the frogger theme at the beginning. Ahhh nostalga... |
Bad Religion – Kerosene Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is about the people who have nowhere to go and who have no chance to make it. |
Bad Religion – Sorrow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song reminds me of a punk version of 'Imagine' |
KMFDM – Preach/Pervert Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This is my favorite song on ATTAK. I couldn't find it here so I added it. Enjoy :) |
