Manic Street Preachers – Faster Lyrics 21 years ago
It's a song about finding some kind of superiority on all the pain u have put yourself through. People call you a butcher but u feel like you are creating some beautiful. People call you a primitive when it's really you who just knows better. People say you are disgusting sick when you feel like you are clean and pure because of what you have done. Raising yourself above all these really intelligent ppl plath pinter mensa and miller and just feeling better than everything. It's a euphoric feeling you've lost all this weight you've got this discipline this power and control you are better than them all. He feel he is all the things you regret everything u never want to see. But it's just like yes I'm better than this I'm better than you I am everything. I know not all the lyrics are about that a lot of it's about self disgust too. But it's just I feel that's what the song get's at in certain places.

Manic Street Preachers – Kevin Carter Lyrics 22 years ago
"Named after the Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer who documented the war in Rwanda. After being accused of exploiting the situation for his own name (his photo of a child's body with a vulture in the background became a famous image of the war), he turned to wildlife photography. Unable to live with either the guilt or his memories of the conflict, he took his own life." okay I got it a bit wrong lol.

Manic Street Preachers – Yourself Lyrics 22 years ago
It's mainly about self disgust. it depends how u look at it whether ur singing about yourself or to someone else. But is still about disgust. Altho from what the manics have said it is about self disgust. Looking in the mirror every day trying to convince yourself you look ok just so you can get throught the day. When deep inside you know your just a flabby piece of shit.

Manic Street Preachers – She Is Suffering Lyrics 22 years ago
The she in question isn't suffering but desire. Desire only causes lust sin you can never be pure if u still have desire. The only way to find peace to stop all suffering to get to a better place is to lose all desire. In my opinion without desire we are no longer human to lose all desire would be to be of a different conciousness or to be dead. There is no rest for humanity.

Well ne one can understand this song. It's a song about the manic street preachers by the manic street preachers. An apology to the fans for all the shit that's happened and also an attempt to look forward. To free themselves from the past and all the accusations that come with it. And as sad as it is it's true EVERYTHING MUST GO.

Manic Street Preachers – Crucifix Kiss Lyrics 22 years ago
Just completely anti organised religion. that's about it altho it focuses of christianity. Richey spoke about being taken to church and how all it was was some woman standing up there and telling you how worthless u were. The song is just about how ridiculous certain religious ideas are how it can hold us back and be used to control people so they are easier to handle e.g. 'Allow your leaders to control you/ questions are now blasphemy'. Telling to ppl to use up the whole of this life in worship just on the hope there will be an afterlife and they'll go to heaven 'believe in tomorrow and not today'. And just the stupidity of certain forms of worship 'why walk when you can crawl. Stay on your knees and kiss my feet' when put like that organised religion doesn't make so much sense.

Manic Street Preachers – Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier Lyrics 22 years ago
It's about a statue of Elvis that is located on blackpool pier well literally anyway. It's also a comment on the americanisation of britain or so I read somewhere. The irony of having an american hero built out of lancashire pottery.

Manic Street Preachers – Kevin Carter Lyrics 22 years ago
Kevin Carter was a photographer and won the pulitzer prize for a photo of a vulture standing looking over a starving child in Africa. The picture became famous despite it's controversial contents. Kevin Carter was a war photographer. The picture was taken during the apartheid and kevin carter and the group of photographers he travelled with [the bang bang club] were known as kaffir lovers. Kaffir Lovers were ppl who sympathised with the africans who were being discriminated against. Kevin Carter gave up war photography for nature he couldn't take the scenes of hardship ne more. But unable to cope with the guilt he went on to kill himself.

Manic Street Preachers – 4st 7lb Lyrics 22 years ago
ladboygrrrl I kinda disagree 4st 7lb is when ur on the brink of death. So she loses ne more weight the girls dead. It's about finding ur own self worth and admiring yourself for it. All the girl had was her discipline not to eat. She is vain like we all are. The song is sung in a diary style she slowly loses more and more weight it finishes before she's die unless u believe she was cured. But the girl in the documentry the beggining quote is from died. It is autobiographical also but Richey never got down that low. I think he reached 6 stone which is pretty awful for a 5ft 8 man. I think it's about richey quite obviously but he's kinda taken his feelings and imprinted them on a girl. In some sort of attempt to get the attention off him. He was too self absorbed I'm not condemning him for that I think that's a fault with most people including myself. He used to be my hero but he was never a hero he was just a person. Not a tortured artist a person the same thing could've happened to a taxi driver but it happened to him and he was in the public eye. Richey was/is a person who was overly sensitive the world was too much for him to take in. Maybe he's dead maybe he's not. But he wrote some great lyrics that and his intelligence is what I admire.

Manic Street Preachers – Archives of Pain Lyrics 22 years ago
no the opening quote was by a mother of one of the victims of the yorkshire ripper. The song's very an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth etc... Well little englander the manics said they had a right to contradict themselves something they do a lot. Altho I'm sure they had some excuse for patrick batemen like it wasn't glorifying him but it was talking about society I dunno can't remember lol.
