Lots of thoughts on here about this song being about something other than drug running. It's not. It's about drug running. Though I appreciate how people can make it relevant to their own experience - all music should be that way. That said, I'm posting because I didn't see anyone mention the other fairly relevant part that clues you into the fact that it's not just about drug running, but specifically about young men who die while drug running - November 2nd is All Souls Day. That's the whole point. The speaker in the song is dead (Wyclef even says it at the start - "she gets that message you ain't comin' back"). The speaker will be gone for good this time, until November. |
