The meaning to this song is pretty self explanatory. Only one minor correction. You spelled the artist's name wrong. Her name is Justine. :) |

Taylor Swift – Anti-Hero Lyrics

You people have all got it wrong. Just like every Taylor Swift song, this song is about KURT COBAIN. "My depression works the graveyard shift... all the people I've ghosted stand in the room." (Kurt was depressed and he's dead now. Taylor is depressed because of his death, clearly.) The "I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror" line is a reference to two Nirvana songs "Seasons of the Sun" and "Sappy." She'll stare directly at "Seasons of the Sun" but wants to avoid the more melancholic Nirvana songs like "Sappy" where Kurt was clearly depressed. The whole dream sequence might be confusing in any other context, but not when you listen to "Lake of Fire." I mean C'MON people. It's OBVIOUS. |

Justin Bieber – Baby Lyrics

IF YOU LISTEN CLOSELY TO THE LYRICS IT'S NOT SAYING "GIRL" OR "HER," IT'S SAYING KURT.
This song is about Kurt Cobain. I mean think about it:
"Just shout whenever, and I'll be there."
Little Justine Beaver found a time machine, hence *whenever* (even in the past because Kurt's already dead at this point) and he's asking Kurt to shout for him, a cry for help, like some of his songs. He will be there for Kurt.
I don't have time to link all the references to Nirvana songs, but how could anyone miss the references to "Heart-Shaped Box," "You Know You're Right," "Lithium," "Come As You Are" and "Stay Away," among others. The whole part about the playground confused me until I realized it was a reference to "School." LIL JUSTINE IS TRYING TO GIVE KURT THE RECESS HE NEVER HAD!!! |
