I love this song, because the lyrics really connect to something I remember hearing about. While science is growing rapidly, and is making great progress, they will make no true progress until they realize and recognize the full truth of the Universe (as to what that is, well, let's leave that for you to decide). There's more out there than atoms and facts. Once science acknowledges that, then we can truly grow. |

Hell, it's a damn good song and as others have said before, it's open to interpretation--you know, like poetry. No matter what the artist intended it to be, someone, somewhere, will see something different. So instead of being childish about what it really means, why don't you just enjoy the music? |

Actually, Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab of Israel. She betrayed him and their religion (Judaism) by introducing the worship of Baal. She was thrown out of a window to her death and dogs ate most of her body. Becuase of her actions, she has since been considered wicked and evil.
Aside from that, I think that NSearchOfTruth has the right idea, about the reason behind the song being rape. She calls him Angry Johnny; rape is a crime of anger. Also, as NSearchOfTruth said, where has your pleasure gone, points out that the tables were turned. Sometimes, in cases of abuse (of any kind), the victim will turn into the abuser, especially if the original offender is somehow weakened or vulnerable. Her anger thus becomes a mirror of his previous actions. |

I think that this song is about realizing that you have a problem or issue or situation to deal with (the broken beam) and learning to cope with it (being a dolphin) when you are confronted with it. You have to be strong, but you have to be able to adapt. They're no guarantees that you'll succeed, but trying to swim is better than sinking like a stone. |
