First just while listening i assumed that this song was about a manipulator in a relationship. "i love myself better than you" - a narcissist. they dont care about you. only about themselves "the finest day that i ever had / was when i learned to cry on command." - cry for attention, cry to emotionally manipulate, bla bla bla... "my mother died every night" - first pictured this line as just lying to guilt the other person when they've run out of ways to blame them and i with that interpretation, i always pictured this song written by the victim in the relationship from the perspective of the emotional abuser. honestly dont ask me i dont know 💀 but i do know that artists like Nirvana are very opened to songs having multiple interpretations, and i like these other interpretations, i swear these songs have obvious general meanings that i just dont understand until i go onto this website 💀 |

I love that songs can be interpreted in many different ways and I love that about a lot of artists, especially radiohead. And this song could most definitely be about depression. On some of my bad days, i feel as if this song is personally attacking me 💀. Because my own brain is telling me that im a worthless piece of sh#t and i cant control it. i couldnt properly take care of myself because my own brain was keeping me in my room. i didnt enjoy a single second of school most of the time because??? for what??? its me. im doing it to myself. im feeling sorry for myself. its my own doing. (not that this mindset of thinking is correct at all.) but i definitely feel as if theres way more to this song than just that. again i love the depth that radiohead goes to in their lyrics and there isnt ever just one correct interpretation, everyone has their own personal connection to this song and thats we f##king love music. also, does anyone even use this website anymore? im guessing not. im a bit fkn late to it 💀 |
