Love good pop music. Also big opera fan (back in the day), and enjoy classical and world music. Some "hearts of space" music. I'm all about "Consciousness comes first; All things are one; There is no death; There is a purpose."

Hair – The Flesh Failures / Let The Sun Shine In Lyrics 1 year ago
@[TallMisterHall:46103] Thanks for this insight. This song is so powerful, you'd probably have to go back to the Marseillaise to find its match (but much less bloodthirsty). Here's what I got, and your thoughts would be appreciated. I take it that after all that has happened, they are giving Timothy Leary's answer, and it is "Let the sun shine. Let the sunshine in." It is not necessary to take "Tune in, turn on, drop out" as self-indulgent. I took it then & still do, as (roughly speaking), Tune in to the cosmos, turn on - well, with drugs or without them - and get out of this corrupt, soulless system. TL is the anti-capitalist-war-machine, as F. Nietzsche was the (self-proclaimed) antiChrist. Regards

@[2:46102] and 2113 Thank you for this! I hope people get it, because this is a great anthem for the 21st century, saying farewell to the Materialistic Age & hello to the AofA. I just added this thought on the penultimate line of the song. Your opinion would be appreciated. "Answer for Timothy Leary, dearie." That is, amid all the lies horror, and tragedy, this is what WE, the children of the Age of Aquarius, have to say. And our answer is - well, give them Timothy Leary's answer, honey. That will do. And Timothy Leary's answer is "Let the sun shine. Let the sun shine in."

Just about the last verse, "Answer for Timothy Leary, dearie." After all the lies horror, and tragedy, the song concludes with what WE, the children of the Age of Aquarius, have to say. And our answer is - well, give them Timothy Leary's answer, honey. And Timothy Leary's answer is "Let the sun shine. Let the sun shine in."

@[IDanielsen:45813] Thanks for your ideas about the meaning of the Flesh Failures - Let the Sun Shine. Re Timothy Leary, here's my thoughts: Hair is not a play in which you are going to find criticism of Timothy Leary. The words are "Answer FOR Timothy Leary, deary" - NOT "Answer TO T.L." After an entire song m.f.-ing the government, the punch line is not all of a sudden going to be a criticism of Timothy Leary. Especially not in Hair! TL didn't have anything to do with Berger's death. What the lyricist is saying is, With all this going on in our world, here is our response. And our spokesman is not the government, not anything in the establishment system. We trust Timothy Leary, not the establishment. Hardly could be a bigger slap in the face to all that is held up as the official reality. So the meaning is, Here's what we have to say. Answer for our spokesman, deary. And our spokesman is Timothy Leary, and he says: "Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in." Just my thought. This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius - not the dawning of an age of improved foreign policy. ❤️ The lyrics could be better, I'm sorry to say. This is a powerful anthem - as powerful as the Star Spangled B., and The Marseillaise.
