Vampire Weekend – Hannah Hunt Lyrics 6 months ago
Ezra really is a brilliant lyricist who has mastered the art of double entendre. He perfectly explores this as he states 'Hannah tore the New York Times up into pieces'...1) as most people assume the actual NYT's newspaper being torn up in anger/frustration. 2) cleverly implying that it's the great times they had in NYC she's actually destroying/diminishing. He's clearly amongst the finest writers of his generation but, it's a shame we have 1 album in 10 years. Seems like a waste especially when you factor in the prime years that could've been used to really write some more great shit!? Anyways it's a fantastic song and the music matches the lyrics in it's brilliance...Rostam also shines bright on this great song! For me it's their crowning achievement.

The Who – Eminence Front Lyrics 1 year ago
I just laugh when uneducated people think PT isn't one of the greatest guitarists ever(not many, but their out there) cause he doesn't play boring, pentatonic blues solos yet, when he wants to he nails a solo like this...just listen to LAL and tell me he isn't fucking phenomenal in every damn way!!!!

Townshend proving he was still BRILLIANT even in the 80's when he no longer gave a shit yet, he was still the one...At least PT wasn't phony about it like the subjects in this last great Who song...you'll all see I'm the ONE!

The Who – Naked Eye Lyrics 1 year ago
Smoke some pot find a woman and just let go...Of course life isn't that simple and only PT can explain this so elegantly with the Who giving a powehouse performance...listen to a live performance and tell me PT can't solo amongst all the other amazing things he does on a guitar and stage! My favorite lines have to be... You hold the gun
And I hold the wound
And we stand lookin' in each other's eyes

Pete Townshend – Greyhound Girl Lyrics 1 year ago
Great song and Pete's acoustic is so jazzy, flemenco style strokes that accentuate the beautiful lyrics. You got me running down the flat...

The Who – I Can See For Miles Lyrics 1 year ago
Brilliant song, brilliant musicianship, brilliant singing and production! PT letting his wife Karen know he can see her thousands of miles away while on tour in America. One of the greatest songs of all time!

Just brilliant what else can you say.

The Who – My Generation Lyrics 1 year ago
Can you imagine PT wrote this song on a train ride on his 20th Birthday, that's insane. What an amazing Birthday present to himself and thank God the rest of the world.

Dylan probably is the best lyricist but, damn PT is fucking brilliant also!

The Who – My Generation Lyrics 1 year ago
The first and best punk rock song ever written and yet, this song is so much more than that. If they never wrote another song after this they would've been legends that's how important this song was, still and will always be! The sheer sound was not only groundbreaking but, it was revolutionary and it was really just the first door of at least 50 that this band kicked down first.

Amazing song proving PT still had it and he had it in spades...A Man In A Purple Dress, Mike Post Theme, Black Widows Eyes, It's Not Enough, Tea & Theatre and of course this song! Pete's acoustic guitar is sublime and the lyrics as usual magnificent!

Big Thief – Mary Lyrics 1 year ago
Also this is just a crushingly beautiful verse, if that makes sense...

We overcome the sirens
We look both left and right
And I can feel the numbness accompany my plight
And I know that someday soon I'll see you
But now you're out of sight
And you'll kiss me like you used to in the January night

A brilliant song both in melody and also lyrically. Adrianne is just a very special artist and when I listen to this on my headphones I swear I feel like I'm levitating. There is also an amazing full band performance of this live from the Pitchfork Festival in 2018. Obviously it's completely different but, equally powerful.

Wilco – Misunderstood Lyrics 1 year ago
Sorry, one last thing this line is just paralyzing...Short On Long Term Goals...I mean it's 5 words and yet, it says so much that's it's staggering in it's effect when analyzed. JT the real voice of the 90's and beyond.

Wilco – Misunderstood Lyrics 1 year ago
The best lyricist of his generation and that includes Cobain, Corgan, Vedder and Yorke. I think Kurt was good and Corgan was great while Vedder and Yorke are exceptional lyricists but, dare I say Jefff is borderline genius. Why do you think Dylan loves him so much, a poet of the 90's! As for Misunderstood it was his first home run in Wilco yes, A.M. has some gems but, this was a whole new territory and sound. From there the guy and Wilco haven't missed on much for the last 28 years as proven with CC. Anyways the song can mean whatever you want it to mean JT is king of double and even triple entendres, just thankful for all the great music! And yeah I'm a Chicago guy so I'm little biased but, the music doesn't lie!! Peace

David Bowie – Slow Burn Lyrics 1 year ago
PT really drives this song with an amorphous swirl of sound as Bowie told the BBC in 2002 and it's the most eccentric yet aggressive guitar I've seen him play in years. Brilliant isn't he. They are both brilliant!!

The Who – Love, Reign O'er Me Lyrics 1 year ago
For my ears as I have now lived and loved for what will be 50 years in 2023, this is the greatest song ever written and performed perfectly proving yet again why they were (not the beatles, stones or zeppelin) the best band on the planet!

The Who – Cry If You Want Lyrics 1 year ago
I mean the lyrics are magnificent as is Roger's singing as well as John's acrobatic playing and KJ was damn good on this song but, in the end the song is owned by the man that wrote it! Just because it's not a pentatonic blues solo doesn't mean what were hearing isn't perfection...he's torturing his Schecter and it's a beautiful massacre!! That it was to be the last song on the last album says alot. For 6 decades the man has been on a spiritual journey and I'm glad I was along for the amazing ride. For me PT is the single most all around talent and I'm grateful for not only what he's contributed to rock but, to music and artistic creativity. He was right when he said 'you all see I'm the ONE!

There's also an extended outro version of this song. My God I think the guitar died a horrible death and not from PT smashing it either. Just BRILLIANT!
